Many may want to know who I am and why do I want to become a teacher. Well, listen to my story. I am Cameron Webster and an Elementary Education Major at Old Dominion University. I was born in Montgomery, Maryland, and raised in Richmond, Virginia. My passion has always been helping others, but recently it has changed to the focus of youth that comes from troubled backgrounds. I currently work with elementary school kids that have learning and behavior problems with this program through Henrico County Public Schools. With this experience, I plan to teach 3rd and 4th grade in different alternative schools.
My Influence!!
My inspiration has been kids I've been working with for the last 3 years -watching them overcome their internal battles- and become better versions of themselves. Also, I believe that teaching was in my blood as I have many teachers in my family. My grandmother was a teacher for approximately 52 years and my aunts are still currently teaching. Teaching ultimately brings me joy. If I go home from work and am not tired, I feel as if I did not do my job as a teacher that day. I feel that my students should feel empowered to be and accomplish anything in life without any limitations.
What I Know/What I will Learn
I know that I am the only thing that some kids have!
I know school can be boring!
I know I will have to have patience!
I know I will sometimes get frustrated, but must keep a positive attitude!
I know times have changed!
I will learn how to manage a class!
I will learn how to gain more patience!
I will learn how to properly deliver information to a class!
The teacher I will become:
I will be the teacher that inspires greatness. I want my kids to know that I trust them and they should trust me!! I will bring joy back to learning and my kids would want to come to school because they know it's a safe haven.

Hey Cameron, it was nice to learn more about you, including your influences. Kudos to you for making the decision to become an educator, it has it challenges, but the idea of knowing you have the ability to change their life makes up for that. Well again good work, my suggestion would be incorporate some color into your site. Take care.
Cameron! I enjoyed reading your page and seeing how transparent and vulnerable you were about what you want to learn. I also smiled when you said you want to bring joy back to learning. I felt that! -Cayla M.

Hey Cameron! I enjoyed your presentation and getting to know a little about you! I find it very interesting that you work and will continue to work with students of troubling behavior. You will definitely have an impact on those students and they will always remember the person who helped them turn their lives around to do better! Great job!- Bri Chavis
