WHO I AM-On May 2 1999 a baby girl was born . I want to eventually teach second grade. I am the oldest of two my sister and I are seven years apart. I also have a dog named Bella she is so fun to play with. Bella's favorite toy is her hedgehog. I got inspired to teach from my first grade teacher Mrs. Young at Red Mill Elementary. I have done some student teaching in the past I was apart of the Virginia Teachers for Tomorrow program.
The TYPE OF TEACHER I will become- I want to be a teacher that teaches kids how to go out into the world and can fend for themselves. i also want to teach the kids how to make there own decisions and learn how to make an educated decision when given all the facts .
What I know-
. I know what it feels like to be completely lost with material
2. how it feels to be behind in class material
3.to feel frustrated when you don't understand something.
4.to be bored when you are being taught something you already know.
what I have to learn
1. How students mind think
2.what makes them eager to learn
3.what the kids know about the world
4.how the students see other people

I'm the youngest of my siblings. My brother is 12 years older than I am, so I understand the large age gap. I think that being able to understand and relate to how the students feel with material (frustrated or bored) is important for teaching, especially with younger children. -Allison Shanks
Hi Alexis, I wanted to say I love the points you made in your "type of teacher I want to become." I feel like a big part of my learning experience lacked important knowledge like how to effectively make an important decision based on the information given.
