This is my virtual classroom that I designed in TLED 430 with Dr. Kidd last semester, I wanted to include it because I think it shows what I would want my ideal classroom to look similar to! I want my classroom to be engaging, inviting and a safe space.
My name is Reina Remias and I am a sophomore at Old Dominion University majoring in elementary education. I have always enjoyed spending time with children. Perhaps the greatest influence in shaping my decision to become a teacher is my 5th grade teacher from elementary whom I was able to shadow my senior year of high school. I was able to work with the students that desired extra help, and I soon found that I loved every minute of being in that environment- and discovered one day I want to have my own classroom.
Fun Facts About Me (:
I am a big fan of: Harry Potter(my house is Hufflepuff), sunsets, dogs, music, & strawberry ice cream
In my free time I like to play spike ball with my friends and paint
I was born and raised in Virginia Beach
I think most animals are cute but if I was within a few feet of them I would actually be scared of them
Not every student is the same, all students are unique individuals with individual needs. The role of a teacher is so much more than teaching basic classroom academics, but rather to encourage lifelong learning. A good teacher is a teacher that is open minded, enthusiastic and willing to learn new things from their students. A good teacher is empathetic, and patient. A good teacher truly wants to know who their students are. Students are worth so much more than their grades!!
My Poem:
Students and teachers are like butterflies. Time flies when they are side by side.
Each growing, learning, and making mistakes.
Becoming more beautiful day by day, until they are ready to fly away.
I have so much to learn on my journey to becoming a teacher and I am very far still from becoming the teacher I want to be. I want to learn how to manage a classroom, how to effectively organize and plan out content, how to integrate engineering into my classroom, how to best teach my students. I want to learn how I can offer support and structure to my class but also allow my students the freedom to thrive on their own.

Hi Reina! I love your page. & I totally agree, children are not the same! Everyone of them is different and has a different learning style they're going to need. I can't wait to continue class and learn more about your teaching style!(: -Annie Tulensru
Heyy Reina! Your page is super cute and I think you will be a great teacher! I really liked your poem, and I think it is great to acknowledge that you still have much to learn because as educators, we will always need to be learning new things to pass on to our students. - Kaylee Hodge
Hi Reina! You're page is awesome! I also love Harry Potter (I'm a ravenclaw). Although, I was in highschool when the first book was released. I went to every midnight premier of every book, movie, and dvd release. I like that the number one spot on the teacher you will be come is Empathetc. I think that is an important trait to carry. -Rene Fiore
