I am a sophomore majoring in elementary education. I have taken a delayed path but with the wonderful support of my family and friends, I am finally pursuing my passion. I was inspired to be a teacher by two of my elementary school teachers, Mr. Henn and Mr. Nelson. I was also inspired by my mother who always had the desire to teach but never pursued it other than volunteering. I love exploring National Parks and have been to Yellowstone five times. I also have traveled quite a bit. First as a child with my father's job and our vacations. Second as an adult with the military. I have been to many countries in Europe and almost every state. I also love to bake and cook. One interesting fact is I am unable to cook for any less than ten people. That could be because I have a large family and I cook almost every night for at least ten most of the time more. To learn a little more about me please watch my Animoto.

I know that each child learns differently.
I know I may not be able to reach every student but I will never give up trying.
I know each person, adult and child alike, need a place they feel safe and cared for.
I know how important inclusion is for every student.
I know not every student thinks school is important and may have very good reasons they feel that way.
I know each person has their own thoughts, fears, and anxieties and each one is valid.
I know the world is ever changing and we must adapt to different things each day.
I know it is important to listen with an open mind to understand different perspectives.
I know that if I am not willing to learn new things, I can not expect others to be.
I know making mistakes is part of the process to becoming better.

I want to be the teacher that my students are excited to see during the day.
I want my students to feel safe, supported and comfortable in my class, which allows them to express their dreams and even concerns.
I want to be the teacher that inspires and teaches my students to reach and exceed their goals.
I want to be the teacher that has a fun and inclusive classroom for all children that may come in it.
I will be the teacher that will use technology and suggestions from others to assist my students in their learning.

Hi Shonna, I didn't want to mess up anything on your page for some reason I couldn't comment in actual comment section so I figured that I would create a new spot. Anyway, I love that you have been to Yellowstone so many times, my mom loves national parks as well so I've also been to a lot! I also really love baking, it was my favorite hobby when I was younger. And WOW you cook for ten people? How big is your family? Good job!
