The Lockwood High wrestling team began the 2022-2023 season on November 17th. Since then, they have participated in a host of tournaments, showing signs of steady improvement and collecting multiple trophies along the way.
Coach Beau Malia, in his fourth year as head coach, is pleased with his team’s performance. “So far, our season has been going great,” Malia said. “We had one Individual champion at the Sidney tournament (Meadow Mahlmeister), and our girls' team took first in the Powell, Wyoming tournament with three individual champions: Evelyn Arciga, Serenity Hernandez and Meadow Mahlmeister. Our boys placed second at the Huntley duals. We had two individual champions at the Bozeman tournament: Evelyn Arciga and Cole Krutzfeldt.”
Up next for the Lion grapplers will be their home meet on January 27th, followed by the Hardin Invitational on the 28th. The Eastern A Divisional Tournament will take place in Havre on February 4th, and their season will conclude with the Class A State Tournament at the Billings Metra Park on February 9-10.
