The choir classes had been working hard to get their songs and parts down for the concert on Thursday, October 14th. Four different groups performed, then all four came together to sing two final songs. The groups involved were the 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade choirs, along with Concert Choir, which is the high school choir. The 6th graders started with "Old MacDonald," arranged by Roger Emerson, and ended their part with "The Music Within Us" by Joy Malone. Albrecht & Althouse’s "On The Stage" was sung by the 7th graders after they sang "Homeward Bound," a Keen/Althouse with a duet done by Brylee Good and Isabella Weatherwax. The 8th graders started with an arrangement by Kirby Shaw, "When The Saints Go Marching In," and they finished off with "In My Fantasy" by Morricon/Snyder.
Finally, Concert Choir sang "Elijah Rock," arranged by Rollo Dilworth. Their final song was "There Is Peace," with solos from Kori Clark (sophomore), Jordyn Weber (sophomore), Austin Therriault (junior), and Kaeson Cellmer (freshman). "There Is Peace" also had a duet with Lily Conklin (sophomore) and Grayson Proctor (freshman). The groups then came together for two songs. The first, "Aya Ngena," arranged by Ruth Morris Gray, had a solo by Gwyn Cusak (junior). The concert then concluded with "Be The Change" by Jacob Narverud.
Last year was hard on Choir. The students had to stay spread out, making it hard to hear the notes of others with the same parts. This year they can all finally be able to be by each other and hear their notes. Also, the choir students get the chance to be a part of a choir manager group. This year the president is Lily Conklin, and the vice president is Gwyn Cusak. This concert began the choir year off right and will continue to grow and change with the growth of the music department.
