For the first time this season, the Lockwood Lady Lions softball team won on their home field.
Not only was this the first varsity home win, but it was also the first run-rule win that the group has ever gotten.
The girls fought so hard for five innings that the Huntley Project girls couldn’t score, even though they played great. The Huntley girls were a fun team to play and the Lions got to push themselves and play at their best.
Lockwood scored 12 runs from hard work and great base running. The girls knew that they had to keep their heads level while playing. They also knew that they must stay humble even when they won. According to catcher Mayson James, the team “definitely played really well and were able to keep our heads in the game”.
The next softball game for Lockwood will be the divisional tournament in Hardin, which will take place on May 19th and 20th. Lockwood’s first game will be against the home team Hardin Bulldogs. The tournament format is double elimination, meaning the girls will have to lose twice in order to be out of the tournament. Good luck, Lady Lions!
