The Speech and Debate team went on a trip to Lewistown, a little over 2-hour drive there. They went to the High School tournament. Everyone had to work a little bit harder to get through this one because the coach, Jared Smith, had to leave for most of the tournament. Even without a coach, the team got through with the help of two juniors, Elizabeth Buckalew and Lily Conklin, who both helped keep the group together and running for the tournament. There were only two people who didn't make it to the finals. Our two Debates, Nevaeh Lee and Mason James, got second place. In Dramatic Interp, Laria Larson got 4th place, and this was her only time so far to be in finals. Emilee Shults got 6th place in Humorous Interp. 7th place in Informative Speaking went to Emily Brandenburg. Elizabeth Buckalew got 8th place in Impromptu, while Madison Forney got 7th. Seth Ahlgren got 6th place in Extemporaneous. So in all, excellent job to the team for holding your own without your coach there and being very successful in your performances. Good luck on your next few tournaments, including the 7th and 8th, which is vital, and the one on the 15th at the Lockwood Schools.
