1244 Health District Formation

CITY OF ELGIN, OREGON RESOLUTION 1244 (2008)

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL AUTHORIZING A  HEALTH DISTRICT FORMATION ELECTION WITHIN THE CITY OF ELGIN

WHEREAS: ORS 440 authorizes the formation of a health district, and;

WHEREAS: ORS 198.720(1) provides that if any part of the territory subject to a petition for formation of a district is within a city, the petition calling for the formation of the district shall be accompanied by a certified copy of a resolution of the governing body of the city approving the petition, and;

WHEREAS: 

the City of Elgin desires that the measure for the formation of a health district with a tax base, with taxes levied upon the assessed valuation of all properties within the district, and whose boundaries are the same as the boundaries of Elgin School District 23, within Union County, be placed before the voters in Elgin;

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED:

That the City Council of the City of Elgin approves the petition calling for the formation of a health district with a tax base and that the area within the boundaries of the City of Elgin be included in the proposed health district, which formation is to be placed on the ballot for election on November 4, 2008.
