23/6/23 - Creativity Challenge With Our Buddies

"Our task was to each create a small member to add to a whole-class rainbow. We decided to do our class version with our buddies in P3. Together we chose a colour each to collect together in a big rainbow. We also wrote a message about a thing we liked, and a thing that made us happy!" - Alexander and Emily

30/5/23 - Natural Camouflage

"Some animals change their colour to blend in with their environment, like chameleons and owls against trees. To show how effective camouflage can be, see if you can see any animals hidden in our displays! I bet you won't find mine!" - Joshua and Isla

24/5/23 - Poppy Bus

"We were talking about the poppy poem: "In Flanders Field" and we were talking about what veterinarians were and how they are looked after."

"We made poppies, it was amazing!"

"We also listened to volunteers who spoke to us about people who took part in the war."

15/5/23 - Music Maestros!

A huge thank you to Ms. Cormack and the council's music service for providing resources and helping us learn about string instruments! Today P4 have been learning about the names of each string and how to pluck on a violin.

17/4/23 - Planting vegetables!

Today P4 were excited to plant vegetables to be kept in our greenhouse until they are big enough to move outside. We are hoping to grow peas, carrots, runner beans.

17/3/23 - Building Castles and Sieging Enemies...

P4 learned about castles as part of our Mary Queen of Scots, including their history and how they were built. We then built our own out of recycled materials with Ms. Christie's P6 class, and sieged the other class' castles by constructing and using catapults!

2/3/23 - World Book Day!

P4 celebrated by sharing some of our favourite stories and reading for our own enjoyment! A huge thank you to Ms. Docherty and Mrs. Blair for setting up this wonderful event for us!

Forces - 24/2/23

We investigated push, pull and twist forces in the classroom, then we used the sports equipment to demonstrate these forces outside!

The Scale of the Solar System - 20/1/23

We recreated the solar system with each of us representing a planet! After learning the true distances between the planets, we created a scale. We then used trundle wheels to measure out the distance to that scale (and a metre stick for closer planets).

Surveys and Graphs

What is the class' favourite animal? What about their favourite car? This week's maths focus was about collecting data and presenting it in different ways. We looked at how reliable different forms of surveys are and displayed our information using bar graphs.

4/11/2022 -

Estimate and Approximate

This week we finished off our maths block on estimating and approximate amounts by applying these skills to real life situations. Should a scientist give approximate values? Where might an exact amount not be needed? P4 loved being able to put their skills to the test and prove their understanding.

6/10/2022 - Outdoor Punctuation!

Outdoor learning is really important to us in P4. Today we explored grammar outside, by using question marks to ask questions about our environment. It's nice to have some fresh air while practising our grammar!

2/9/22 - Greenhouse Gardens

If you are signed up to Mr. Farquhar's twitter page, you might have seen photos of our greenhouse garden project! These greenhouses were set up with a project in mind to grow flowers, fruits and vegetables that the rest of the school can enjoy.
