World Book Day 2023

We are readers!

World Book Day 2023

The Library Life and Ethos group helped arrange this important and special event. Led by Miss Docherty they did an amazing job and we want to share the activities the children across the school were involved in.

Reading in our pyjamas!

This was a popular choice again however, donations of books were requested instead of spending money on costumes.

The Story Place!

Our school hall was transformed. Lamps, fairy lights, cushions, mats and blankets made this a space to curl up or lie down to read or share a book.

Story Chairs

Some classes created story chairs. Characters, books and book themes were displayed on these.

Create a book character!

Mrs Page set a special competition to create a book or story character from a peg doll. There were so many wonderful creations which we will share more of below

Our story chairs are now displayed in our library and more examples are shown within our World Book Day video.

DEAR time - Drop Everthing And Read!

We introduced this after World Book Day and continue to have times when our P5 class or Library group tell everyone that it is DEAR time! Staff and children loved these times to stop what they are doing and enjoy some reading time.

Mrs Page set a World Book Day competition to create a book character using a small wooden peg. The winners in each category are shown below and World Book day video fro 2023 shows all the entrants from each class. These are all on display in our infant library but will be used for small world play by children across the school.
