< Udaeus, son of Pelorus >

1 Origin

Ladon was born in Cadmeia (later Thebes) in 1420 BC.

2 Family

Udaeus is believed to have had a son named Ladon. [See Ladon]

3 Others

Udaeus was one of the five Sparti who lived during the time of Cadmus, son of Agenor.

A genealogy suggests that Udaeus was born after Cadmus migrated to Cadmeia.

Udaeus' father was a Sparti, either Pelorus, Chthonius, Hyperenor, or Echion.

Chthonius (or Hyrieus) founded Hyria in Boeotia, near the crossing to Euboea. [Nonnus.13.83]

Hyperenor (or Anthas) founded Anthedon. [Paus.9.22.5]

Echion married Agave, daughter of Cadmus, and was the same generation as Udaeus, and is presumed to be the son of Sparti, who was also the same generation as Cadmus. Udaeus was Echion's brother, and their father was presumably Pelorus.
