< Emathion, son of Coritus >

1 Origin

Emathion was born in Methydrium, Arcadia, in 1449 BC.

Emathion's father was Coritus. [See Dardanus]

Emathion's mother was Electra, daughter of Orchomenus. [See Dardanus]

2 Others

Emathion was the brother of Dardanus, who emigrated from Arcadia to Samothrace. [Nonnus.3.195]

Emathion emigrated to Samothrace with Dardanus in 1430 BC. [Antiq.1.61.3, Paus.8.36.1]

Their migration was due to a flood in Methydrium, which caused famine. [Antiq.1.61.2]

Emathion then became the ruler of Sithonia. [Nonnus.3.220]

Emathion probably migrated to Thracia with Cadmus.

Cadmus discovered gold near Mount Pangaeus, which was in Sithonia. [Herod.7.122]
