< Iphigenia, daughter of Agamemnon >
1 Origin
Iphigenia (or Iphianassa) was born in Mycenae in 1208 BC.
Iphigenia's father was Agamemnon, son of Pleisthenes. [Apo.E.2.15, Herod.4.103, Hyginus.238, Paus.1.33.1, Home.9.135]
Iphigenia's mother was Clytaemnestra, daughter of Tyndareus. [Apo.E.2.15]
2 Family
Based on the following, it is assumed that Iphigenia's husband was Philaeus, son of Ajax.
1) Philaeus' father Ajax was king of Megara. [Paus.1.42.4]
2) There was a heroic mausoleum for Iphigenia in Megara. [Paus.1.43.1]
3) There was a legend that Iphigenia died in Megara. [Paus.1.43.1]
4) Philaeus emigrated to Brauron in Attica. [Plut.Solon.10, Harp10Orat.e167]
5) There is a legend that suggests that Iphigenia was a priestess serving Artemis in Brauron. [Eur.IT.1464]
6) Iphigenia's brother Hyperion became king of Megara. [Paus.1.43.3]
3 Others
In 1190 BC, Iphigenia married Philaeus, who lived in Megara from Mycenae.
In 1173 BC, Philaeus emigrated to Brauron with Iphigenia. [Plut.Solon.10]
Philaeus' migration is thought to have been caused by Iphigenia's brother Hyperion emigrated from Mycenae to Megara. [Inferred from Paus.1.43.3]
