Pronomos was born in northern Thessaly in 1436 BC.

Pronomos' mother was Iphthime, daughter of Dorus.

Pronomos' father was probably a Pelasgian.

Pronomos had brothers, Lycos and Pherespondos.

One of them married Polydore, daughter of Danaus, and had a son, Dryops.

Dryops became the eponym of the Dryopians.
