1 Origin
Hippomenes (or Onchestus) was born in Haliartus, Boeotia, in 1340 BC.
1.1 Father of Hippomenes
Hippomenes' father is presumed to have been Haliartus, son of Thersander, for the following reasons:
1) Hippomenes was the founder of Onchestus in Boeotia. [Hesiod.CW.F28]
2) Onchestus was in the territory of Haliartus, which was founded by Haliartus, son of Thersander. [Hesiod.CW.F28, Strabo.9.2.33]
3) According to the genealogy, Haliartus is one generation before Hippomenes.

Hippomenes had a son, Megareus. [Plut.QuestGr.16, Ps-Scym.500, Apo.3.15.8, Hyginus.157]
Hippomenes had a son, Plataeus. [StephByz.K401.12]
Hippomenes had a daughter, Habrote (or Abrota). [Plut.QuestGr.16]
2.1 Wife of Hippomenes
Based on the following, Hippomenes' wife is presumed to be Oenope, daughter of Epopeus.
1) Megareus' mother was Oenope, daughter of Epopeus. [Hyginus.157]
2) Megareus' father was Hippomenes. [Apo.3.15.8]
3 Others
In 1320 BC, Hippomenes migrated east-southeast from Haliartus and founded Onchestus. [Hesiod.CW.F28]
