< Aglaia, daughter of Epopeus >

1 Origin

Aglaia was born in Aegialeia (later Sicyon) in 1339 BC.

1.1 Aglaia's mother

Aglaia's son Melampus was a prophet. [Apo.2.2.2, Paus.9.31.5]

The only prophet before Melampus was Tenerus, who was at the oracle on Mount Ptous in Boeotia. [Paus.9.26.1, Strabo.9.2.34]

It is assumed that Tenerus was Aglaia's brother, and Melampus learned prophecy from Tenerus.

In other words, Aglaia's mother is assumed to be Tenerus' mother, Metope (or Melia). [Apo.3.12.6, Diod.4.72.1, Paus.9.10.6, Strabo.9.2.34]

1.2 Aglaia's father

Aglaia's father is presumed to be Epopeus, the father of Tenerus. [See Tenerus]

Amythaon and Aglaia had a son, Bias. [Apo.1.9.11, Herod.2.49, Paus.2.18.4]
