In 1420 BC, Sisyphus accompanied his cousin Achaeus to emigrate from Thessaly to Aegialus, north of the Peloponnesus. [Estimated from Paus.7.1.6 and Strabo.8.7.1]
Sisyphus married Merope, daughter of Orchomenus. [Apo.3.10.1]
Merope was born in Orchomenus, Arcadia, but emigrated to Hyperesia, Achaia, in 1430 BC.
Hyperesia was ruled by Ion, the brother of Achaeus. [See Merope]
Sisyphus is thought to have married Merope through the mediation of his cousin Ion.
In 1407 BC, Sisyphus sided with Archander and Architeles, the two sons of Achaeus, in a battle against the Sicyonians. [Estimated from Paus.2.6.5]
