1 Origin

Polyidus was born in Argos in 1260 BC.

Polyidus' father was Coeranus (or Cleitus), son of Abas (or Manto, Mantius). [Apo.3.3.1, Hyginus.128,136, Paus.1.43.5]

Polyidus married Eurydameia, daughter of Phyleus, son of Augeas. [FGrH.Nr333.F115]

Polyidus and Eurydameia had two sons, Euchenor and Cleitus. [FGrH.Nr333.F115]

Polyidus had two daughters, Astycratea and Manto. [Paus.1.43.5]

Polyidus had a son, Coeranus. [Paus.1.43.5]

Polyidus was a prophet belonging to the Melampodidae. [Hyginus.128, Home.13.663, TzeAdLyco.811]

In 1247 BC, Polyidus emigrated from Argos to Megara with his great-grandfather Melampus and his father Coeranus. [See Melampus]

Polyidus's migration was due to internal conflicts in Argos.

Polyidus built a sanctuary for Dionysus in Megara. [Paus.1.43.5]
