Nomius was born in Aegialus (later Achaia) in 1418 BC.

Nomius' father was Archander, son of Achaeus. [See Archander]

Nomius moved to near Mount Pelion in eastern Thessaly to inherit the territory of his maternal grandfather Hypseus. [Just.13.7]
