< Telchin, father of Thelxion >
1 Origin
Telchin (or Telchis, Telches) was born in Aegialeia (later Sicyon) in 1725 BC.
2 Family
The fifth king of Sicyon, Thelxion, is thought to have been Telchin's son. [Estimated from Apo.2.1.1]
3 Others
Pausanias states that Telchin was the son of Europs and father of Apis. [Paus.2.5.6]
However, Pausanias seems to have consulted Castor's list of the kings of Sicyon, which does not include any parentage.
Both Europs and Apis were sons of Phoroneus, the son of Inachus. [Paus.2.34.4, Apo.2.1.1, Euseb.Chron.177, Hyginus.145]
In other words, Telchin was the third king of Sicyon, but the kings before and after him were descended from the kings of Argos.
There is a legend that tells of a battle between Phoroneus, king of Argos, and the Telchines, who are thought to be a tribe whose ancestor was Telchin.
Telchines was defeated in the battle, and Phoroneus' son Apis also ruled Sicyon.
Apis ruled Sicyon for 25 years, and was killed by Telchin and Thelxion who is thought to be Telchin's son. [Euseb.Chron.173, Paus.10.6.3, TzeAdLyco.177]
