In 1295 BC, Sarpedon emigrated from the Troad to Crete. [Estimated from Plato.Gor.524a, Plut.Mor.121c, and Suda.mu.1092]

The reason for the migration is believed to be that Sarpedon fought on the side of Assaracus, son of Tros, in the struggle for the succession to the throne of Wilusa (Troy), and was defeated.

Sarpedon lived in Miletus in Crete. [Strabo.12.8.5]

In 1294 BC, Sarpedon emigrated from Miletus in Crete to Asia Minor with Miletus, son of Aria, and participated in the construction of Miletus. [Strabo.12.8.5]
