Eleuther was born in Hyria, Boeotia, in 1400 BC.

Eleuther's wife is presumed to be Antiope, daughter of Nycteus. [See Antiope]

Antiope and Eleuther had twin brothers Amphion and Zethus. [Apo.3.5.5, Paus.2.6.3]

Eleuther had a son, Iasius. [Paus.9.20.1]
