Amphilochus was born in Argos in 1225 BC.

Amphilochus' father was Amphiaraus, son of Oecles (or Oicles, Oecleus). [Apo.3.10.8, Home.Od.15.220, Paus.3.15.8, Strabo.10.2.26]

2 Others

3.1 Attack on Thebes

In 1205 BC, Amphilochus participated in the siege of Thebes by the Epigoni and captured the city. [Apo.3.7.2, Diod.4.66.1]

3.2 Expedition to Acarnania

In 1204 BC, Amphilochus, together with his brother Alcmaeon, emigrated to Acarnania and founded Argos (later Argos-Amphilochicum) near the Gulf of Ambracia. [Apo.3.7.7, Strabo.7.7.7, Strabo.10.2.25]

3.3 Expedition to Troy by Amphilochus

Thucydides records that Amphilochus emigrated to Acarnania after participating in the expedition to Troy and returning to Argos. [Thucy.2.68]

However, there is no information about Amphilochus' wife or children, so it is assumed that Amphilochus emigrated to Acarnania at a young age.
