3.1 Emigration to Argos
In 1226 BC, Tydeus emigrated to Adrastus who lived Argos. [Apo.1.8.5, Hyginus.97]
Aeolia, the mother of Tydeus' father Oeneus, was the sister of Bias, the father of Adrastus' father Talaus.
In other words, Tydeus emigrated to Argos relying on his second cousin Adrastus. [Apo.1.7.7, Apo.1.8.5, Diod.4.35.2, Hyginus.70]
3.2 Marriage with Deipyla
Tydeus married Deipyla, daughter of Adrastus. [Apo.1.8.5, Hyginus.97]
Deipyla was the daughter of Adrastus, Tydeus' second cousin.
3.3 Attack on Thebes
In 1215 BC, Tydeus participated in the attack on Thebes led by Adrastus.
Adrastus was Tydeus' second cousin and father-in-law.
The Thebans waited for the Argives in front of the Electran Gate, and Tydeus was killed in the first battle. [Estimated from Paus.9.9.2]
3.4 Tomb of Tydeus
Pausanias reports that Tydeus' tomb was outside the Proetidian gate of Thebes. [Paus.9.18.2]
Homer also reports that Tydeus' tomb was in Thebes. [Home.Il.14.109]
However, Pausanias writes that the Argives, led by Adrastus, were all killed in a battle near the Electran gate of Thebes. [Paus.9.9.2-3]
The tomb of Tydeus in Thebes contradicts the tradition that Creon of Thebes did not allow the Argives to take their bodies, but Athens mediated and allowed them to do so. [Aelia.12.27, Isocra.Pan.170, Paus.1.39.2]
Plutarch reports that the bodies of the Argives' generals were buried in Eleusis, and it is assumed that Tydeus was one of them. [Plut.These.29]
