3.1 Departure from Thebes
In 1126 BC, the Boeotians, led by Damasichthon, son of Opheltes, attacked Thebes. [Paus.9.5.16]
Autesion was unable to resist the Boeotians and surrendered the city. [Paus.9.5.15]
Thebes, founded by Cadmus, about 300 years later, came to be ruled by the Boeotians, a tribe of Aeolis.

In 1126 BC, Autesion migrated to the land of the Dorians. [Paus.9.5.15]
Aristomachus, the son of Cleodaeus, the son of Hyllus, the son of Heracles, lived in Pindus in Doris. [Herod.7.204]
Hipponome, the mother of Amphitryon, father of Heracles, was the daughter of Menoeceus, a descendant of Cadmus, and Aristomachus and Autesion had Cadmus as their common ancestor.
