Oaxos was born in Tarrha, Crete, in 1257 BC.

Oaxos' father was Eubulus (or Phoenix), son of Carmanor. [See Eubulus]

Oaxos moved from Tarrha to the vicinity of Mount Ida in 1230 BC and founded Oaxos. [StephByz.O482.10]

Oaxos is presumed to be the ancestor of Etearchus, father of Phronime, mother of Battus, founder of Cyrene. [Herod.4.154]
