Britomartis is thought to have married Gortyn from Caeno. [Calli.Hym.3.183]

Britomartis emigrated from Crete to Aegina in 1205 BC. [Antoninus.40]

Britomartis's migration is thought to have been due to wars within Crete.

Antoninus Liberalis, a writer from the 3rd century AD, reports that Britomartis arrived in Aegina on the ship of the fisherman Andromedes, who is thought to have been Britomartis' husband. [Antoninus.40]

There is a sanctuary of Aphaea in Aegina, which was the name of the deified Britomartis. [Paus.2.30.3]

Britomartis was deified and identified with Artemis. [Paus.8.2.4, Paus.3.14.2]

Pausanias reports that there was a wooden statue of Britomartis made by Daedalus in Olus in Crete. [Paus.9.40.3]

However, Britomartis was the great-granddaughter of Minos, a contemporary of Daedalus, and Daedalus was probably not alive when she was deified.
