NANKING, Thursday (AAP). — At least 19 million people have been left homeless by floods which have inundated 20 counties of the Kiangau province, stretching 140 miles from Suthow almost to the Yellow Sea.
The American Associated Press says that the continuous torrential rains are swelling the Grand Canal and the Hwai river, but despatches from Kaifeng say that despite high waters the Yellow River dykes are holding.
Hangkow navigation authorities report that the Yangtse River has reached record levels.
