On Arrival Writing Question: METAPHOR OF EMPATHY

What is your metaphor of empathy and why is it like that?

Ie what empathy is like metaphorically?

Also, look on the internet to find an image to represent the metaphor. Copy it to the work page here.

I have a lot of metaphors, but one was that empathy is like a room full of disco balls. Each person is like a disco ball that has hundreds of mirrors and reflects the others around it. When we are highly empathic all the mirrors are open and reflecting. When we lose empathy, the mirrors start closing up. So a culture of empathy is everyone has their mirrors open.

Empathy is shaped like a double helix because the expression of empathy is the expression of natural, harmonious creativity.

I got into trouble for this one once (and maybe I will again) - Empathy is like good sex. It’s a naturally flowing, passionate, energizing, spontaneously amplifying attraction between yourself and the other in a way that just works and keeps working until a climax of energy is reached. When done well, empathy gives you that same craving to know more, to touch the inner soul of someone, which in most cultures is only attributed to sexual liberation with that person.

It take 2 to speak a thought. Not the truth.

I’m listening to your thought.

Understanding is that I understand you want me to understand.

Accept the person where they are, doesn’t matter what they say.

For diving deeper.. Listen to facts, feelings, values was helpful.

Getting a better skill set.

Go for harvesting a yes even from a no.

Think of synonyms.. Think of meaning.

Opens the door for people.

Have self judgement. Not a good listener.

Just be there. 90 percent is just showing up.. Just be there emotionally

What is behind what the person is saying. deep down.. At the core, the deeper meanings.

Knowing where this relationship is going to go and be ok with that.

E. what does it feel like to just be there? What does it feel like to be present?

What fears are there in being present.

An empathy movement need live and energy.
