COE: Means

What does a culture of empathy mean to you?

The overall intention and vision of the training is building a culture of empathy. It would create clarity to know what participants feel this means. What are the qualities of this vision.

We need to ask this question for several reasons:

  • Empathy supersedes all adversarial actions

  • It is a long-lasting way of being

  • It is building as opposed to breaking down relationships

  • It focuses on the wholeness of the speaker and the listener

Edwin

It’s an overall vision of what a culture or society based on empathy looks like. It’s based on mutual presence, inclusion, power with, listening, constructive dialogue, empathic connection and collaborative action for the well being of all.

What are we moving towards. Being present. Awareness and well being of a whole.

Rita

A culture of empathy is a culture where everyone is liberated from analysing and finding faults with themselves and others.

Instead, we naturally switched to caring about each others needs. In a culture of empathy, we can be ourselves because we accept each other as long as we each respect each other's needs. When we fail to accomplish this, we get together, discuss and come up with a way to deal with the situation which gives closure to each, integration of the needs of everyone.

Relationships are lighter, caring and collaborative

Jessica

I think a world that SLOWS DOWN. I think it’s a culture where we are raising our awareness and our intentions on how we want to interact and be in the world. No more being busy with unimportant tasks. Empathy is a choice. Society based on empathy looks more caring, connected to each others, less judgemental, more curious of our differences, less afraid to speak up about our pain and sorrows.

Pauline

a culture where people focus more on listening than on talking/telling and where we value multiple perspectives

Debate to dialogue , Listening

A world of awareness what is going on inside ourselves, around ourselves and with others. Awareness of that we all are 'in it'. That we have no clue how the programming at large is at work, but that we can influence our programming in our relationships; that we can work with how we perceive everything that happens in our life. That we have a mindset of having power with instead of power over. That we understand how energies work, how we are influenced by frequencies and that we have a say in that. That we accept being non-stop learners in the journey with each other. Concrete I would see people noticing people, people giving attention to each other, regardless their status. People opening up their hearts, their smiles. More living in the here and now, standing still at situations, going through conflicts with steps, seeing that we can come out knowing more about each other, enjoying the journey (vs living for the result). And all what you guys wrote here above!
