Why is building a culture of empathy important to you?

Building culture of empathy is important to me because in my opinion, people must first seek to understand others first and then judge them for who they really are.
If people practice empathy, they will get to know the reality of others and hence would have right understanding about them.
Having right understanding about others would help everyone connect with one another and bring everyone closer.
