Dear Maureen, I’m Pete Baklinski, and this is your Canadian Pro-Life News Bits – where I let you know what’s happening on our country’s pro-life and pro-family front.
This coming Sunday, pro-lifers across Canada will join the 35th annual Life Chain demonstration. In cities and towns across the country, both young and old will line busy streets and intersections, holding signs with messages such as “Abortion Kills Children,” “Abortion Hurts Women,” and “Adoption: A Loving Option.” I will be attending a Life Chain location with my family. Canada has hit a new record-low fertility rate of 1.25 children per woman. There are many drivers of this, including societal acceptance of contraception and abortion, as well as the breakdown of marriage and family. Canada is committing suicide—and policymakers don't seem to care. We should all care—very much! Children are our country’s future and hope.
In a press release issued on Tuesday, CLC President Jeff Gunnarson strongly condemned the Government of Canada’s use of the Sexual and Reproductive Health Fund to finance groups that promote the killing of preborn Canadians by abortion. Jeff’s words were strong: “Reproductive health should mean what it says—the creation and care of new life. Instead, the term has been hijacked by radical anti-life groups that exist solely to promote the destruction of preborn children through abortion.” Make sure you check out the full release below.
Our Youth Coordinator, Kim Headley, has penned a must-read piece about why campaigning for an abortion law in Canada is a moral and strategic mistake. Kim does not mince words: “Gestational limits give the illusion of progress while codifying injustice. We cannot build a culture of life on the backs of those we agree to leave behind.” Wow. Powerful!

Maureen, I almost could not believe the news that the Carney Liberal death machine bankrolled a pile of abortion-promoting organizations to the tune of $13M just five days after Statistics Canada warned the country that the fertility rate had dropped yet again to a new record low.
Our President, Jeff Gunnarson, was absolutely right to point out the madness of this situation.
“Instead of pouring millions into the destruction of future Canadians, this money should be used to help families thrive and to encourage married couples to welcome more children. Mr. Carney is not just fiddling while our nation collapses demographically—he is pouring gasoline on the fire by funding those who accelerate the decline. It is utter madness,” he said in our press release.
Remember the story of Nero? He fiddled while Rome burned to the ground, doing nothing to stop the fires. Carney is like Nero in this regard, but even worse. He’s accelerating the demographic collapse of our nation by funding groups whose work will make our fertility rate drop even lower.
The truth is that to save Canada from demographic extinction, abortion groups that leech off the government teat need to be entirely defunded. These groups literally exist to kill off our future and our hope by targeting preborn children for abortion. They should not get a single cent of your hard-earned tax dollars. They should be declared enemies of the state.
Remember how Saint Mother Teresa once called abortion the greatest destroyer of peace? Well, these organizations should be declared destroyers of peace.
We need to work for a Canada where organizations that exist to promote the killing of our future and our hope are defunded out of existence. I encourage you to write your MP and express your disgust that your tax dollars are going to fund these murderous organizations that have the blood of our nation’s children on their hands. It’s time to stand up for Canada’s future. It’s time to stand up for our country’s preborn babies. It’s time to defund abortion organizations.
