Dear Maureen, I’m Pete Baklinski and this is your Canadian Pro-Life News Bits where I let you know what’s happening on our country’s pro-life and pro-family fron

It’s been a whirlwind of a week after Alberta Premier Danielle Smith announced new policies to protect children from mutilating transgender interventions. The Left simply exploded at the news with the usual suspects—such as Mr. Trudeau, Amnesty International, and pro-transgender groups—weighing in and condemning the common-sense policies. Despite the onslaught, Premier Smith has held her ground as pro-family groups have risen in the defence of the policies. Please pray that these policies go through and that Smith remains steadfast in the face of the ugly mob.

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre has finally broken his silence and come out in support of Smith’s policies and against puberty blockers for children who struggle with gender dysphoria. About time!

A new poll shows that a majority of Albertans support parental consent and/or notification for a minor to obtain an abortion. It’s only common sense that parents be involved in every major medical decision of their child. No parent, knowing what abortion is and how it harms their daughter and destroys their grandchild, would ever consent to it.

A controversy erupted over who was behind the poll. The leftist Canadian Anti-Hate Network, whom I fondly refer to as the Anti-Canadian Hate Network, wrote an article falsely insinuating that CLC was behind the poll. The Network issued a big apology and correction in their article when I presented them evidence that CLC had nothing to do with it. CLC proudly makes it clear if we are behind any polling initiative.

Here’s some good news. A pro-life organization has won a court case about pro-life ads on buses in Hamilton. The ad is designed to bring attention to the issue of sex-selective abortion. The city did not like the fact that the ad implied that the preborn girl depicted was “human.” This is a great victory for pro-life free speech.

Maureen, my teenage daughter and I were recently speaking about abortion and how impossible it seemed to do anything to end it.

She complained to me that it seemed to her that God had abandoned the pre-born because he wasn't doing anything to end abortion.  She wondered if God even cared about the preborn since he has allowed so many millions of them to perish without dramatically raising his hand to stop this evil and horrendous practice.

I tried to assure my daughter that God does indeed care about these children. I told her that they are created in his image and likeness and so he cares very deeply about them. I reminded her that it was Jesus himself who said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them.”

It’s easy to relate to the frustration of my daughter. It is a frustration that I too have often struggled with at times. Where is God amid this abortion holocaust? Why has he allowed it to go on so long? Will it ever end?

I received some spiritual consolation today after watching my coworkers Matt and Josie announce the theme for the upcoming National March for Life in Ottawa.

The theme is “I will never forget you.” It comes from a passage in the Bible from the prophet Isaiah.

I thought about this theme in relation to my daughter’s frustration. God has not forgotten his little ones. And he will never forget them. They are his beloved children.

Even when there are mothers who have forgotten about their children and who have sacrificed them on the altars of “freedom,” “women's rights,” and “choice,” God will never forget them.

“Can a woman forget her nursing child, or show no compassion for the child of her womb? Even these may forget, yet I will not forget you,” says God through Isaiah.

Here’s how we know God has not forgotten these babies. Even now, he is raising an army of pro-life witnesses to do battle against the pro-abortion forces of evil. Satan is losing his grip on the pro-abortion narrative as more and more women begin to recognize the lies behind phrases such as “pro-choice” and “sexual and reproductive rights.”

As one young, secular woman at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario recently wrote in The Queen’s Journal: “Being pro-life is about protecting innocent babies, not controlling grown adults. I used to be pro-choice…That was until I educated myself on abortion. Learning the procedure of both medical and surgical abortions has solidified my position as pro-life.”

Well said.

No, God has not abandoned the preborn. He has given ordinary people like you and me the task of stepping up and defending his babies.

God calls each one of us in the pro-life movement to be his hands to work to end this genocide against the pre-born. He calls us to be his feet to bring the Good News of the Gospel of Life to those living in darkness and in sin. He wants to use our mouths to speak the truth that every human life is precious, worthy of respect and is owned the right to life from the moment of his or her conception.

God has not abandoned these babies. He has raised up people like you and me to do our part to bring about justice for the pre-born. And, he is raising up a whole new generation of pro-life advocates in our children and grandchildren. One day, with God’s help, abortion will end and every newly conceived human life will be joyfully cherished as the most wondrous and precious gift.

Be bold and daring for life!
