Dear Maureen, I’m Pete Baklinski and this is your Canadian Pro-Life News Bits where I let you know what’s happening on our country’s pro-life and pro-family front.
It would be remiss of me not to mention some excellent news on an important battle front not unrelated to life and family issues. This week, a federal court ruled that Prime Minister Trudeau’s Liberal government acted illegally in using the Emergencies Act against the Freedom Convoy. As Justice Centre President John Carpay stated, “This is a great victory for democracy, for Charter rights and freedoms, and for the rule of law.” This is certainly a big blow to the most pro-abortion Prime Minister in our country’s history and may even result in the further implosion of the Liberal Party, leading to an early election.
I would also be remiss not to mention another striking moment in Canada this week that sure upset leftist politicians. That was the visit of conservative pundit Tucker Carlson to Alberta where he challenged Canadians to “liberate” themselves from Trudeau. At the sold-out event in Calgary, Carlson called Trudeau’s Medical Assistance in Dying program “genocide.”
“The government is encouraging them to submit to being killed by the government,” he said. “And then we'll release the recent statistics. Like what is that? It’s genocide, that’s exactly what it is. It’s killing large groups of people.” Carlson had on a previous occasion called abortion a “spiritual battle” that amounts to killing children in a “human sacrifice” that is “detestable” to God.
And, speaking about Alberta, CLC has launched an Action Alert Email campaign that Alberta residents can use to ask their MLAs to pass legislation that protects doctors’ conscience rights. You can read all about that in a report I penned below.
And, CLC has also launched a nationwide Action Alert Email campaign for all of you to contact your Federal MPs asking them to vote NO to “free” contraceptives funded by taxpayers. My boss Jeff Gunnarson has written an excellent piece on this.
I was shocked to see the news about Parks Canada allowing people to commit suicide in our national parks through Trudeau’s MAiD regime. Parks should be a place where we go to experience God’s peace and order in his creation, not a killing scene for those who have given up on life and have been assisted by government programs to make an immoral end of themselves. I would not want to picnic with my family in a place where someone was helped to kill themselves.
The pro-life film ROE Canada, which stars some of my CLC colleagues, has been released and is making the rounds in the media. You can read some of the great reports about it below.
Please check out the impactful story about the heroic teen who saved a neighbor’s baby from certain death by electrocution when a storm caused power lines to fall on a car, tragically killing the rest of the family. What moved me about this story is that the fundamental human response to a baby in danger is to risk your own life to save that baby. Our pro-death abortion culture has not been able yet to stamp out this basic human response. This woman’s response should be all of our responses when it comes to babies targeted for certain death by abortion.

Maureen, have you ever heard pro-abortion activists claim that “God is pro-choice”?
They do this in a vain attempt to justify their evil by pretending that God is somehow on their side, that he somehow supports abortion–the direct and intentional killing of a preborn baby.
Here’s how you can debunk this claim.
While it is true that God gave humans the gift of free will, he wants us to exercise this gift by choosing what is good and refusing to choose what is evil.
God gave us free will so that we could choose to be in a relationship of love with Him, or freely choose to reject Him.
But, God desires us to choose the way of love, which is the way of life. He says: “I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. Choose life, then, that you and your descendants may live” (Deut. 30:19.).
God desires that all be saved (1 Tim. 2:3), but we also have to want to be saved and to ask God to save us (Rom. 10:13). God wants us to use our free will to choose what is good, to choose the way of love, to choose what leads to life.
The creator of the universe is a God of life and he is a God “of the living” (Mark 12:27).
In fact, God is so entirely on the side of life that he even gave us a commandment against killing one another. And, the commandment “thou shall not kill” includes the murder of the preborn by abortion.
God is certainly pro-life and he desires that all come to the fullness of life.
As Jesus said, “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full” (Jn. 10:10).
The pro-life movement is on God’s side, on the side of life. That is why we will one day prevail against the evils of abortion and euthanasia. God is with us, who can be against us!
