Dear Maureen, I’m Pete Baklinski, and this is your Canadian Pro-Life News Bits – where I let you know what’s happening on our country’s pro-life and pro-family front.
Manitoba has enacted a buffer zone banning pro-life activism outside the province’s abortion mills. The province is bent on facilitating the killing of its up-and-coming generations. Mark my words: a time will come when the province will deeply regret that it protected the killing of its future citizens.
In some good news, a pro-life student in Ontario has won a great victory against the Toronto Metropolitan University for discriminating against her. All pro-life students who attend this university will benefit from this win.
Campaign Life Coalition was delighted to organize an event hosted at the Cardus office in Ottawa featuring African pro-life leader Obianuju Ekeocha, Canada’s former ambassador to China, David Mulroney, and Deacon Andrew Bennett, program director for faith communities at Cardus. A new study has found a direct link between abortion and an increased risk of suicide. The study contradicts the pro-choice narrative that abortion is a harmless procedure for the mother.
A new program has been launched in Canada to protect seniors from euthanasia. The program aims to connect lonely and isolated seniors to a group of volunteers who will check in and speak with them weekly, thus forming a relationship with them so they won’t choose MAiD from a sense of loneliness or lack of purpose. This is a very worthwhile initiative and will undoubtedly save lives.

Comment: Thank God pro-life groups are giving Canadians alternatives to abortion. While pro-abortion groups like the Abortion Rights Coalition of Canada hate seeing the truth when it comes to life issues in public, our Charter gives pro-lifers the right to have a voice and to use it for those who have no voice.

“Health Minister Mark Holland is calling on the federal NDP to give the Liberal government more time in power to sign bilateral deals on pharmacare.”
Comment: The Liberal/NDP pharmacare plan, which gives Canadians free contraception, will one day come to be viewed as a disastrous policy for accelerating the country’s demographic collapse. While other western countries are scrambling to reverse collapsing fertility rates, Canada, which has a “lowest of the low” rate of 1.26, is fuelling the collapse by flooding the country with free contraception. It’s simply insanity.

This October, Québec implemented a law allowing advance directives for MAiD for patients with capacity-limiting illnesses. This means people can choose MAiD in advance, based on assumptions of how they think they'll feel later. It's like asking a kid what they want to be when they grow up and assuming they'll feel the same when they're older.
While acknowledging that this is not in alignment with the Criminal Code, the Federal government has opted not to challenge Québec's legislation and instead is launching a series of consultations, including a survey which is available until February 14th, 2025.

Maureen, one of Canada’s most powerful abortion lobby groups just admitted to helping a young mom kill her 24-week-old preborn baby.
Action Canada described how it helped a 19-year-old mom kill her preborn child in a late-term abortion. This appeared in the organization’s 2023–2024 Annual Report, released this month.
Just imagine: at 24 weeks, a preborn baby is fully developed with working organs; the mother can feel the baby’s kicks and punches; the baby can hear the mother’s voice and react to light; the baby has fingernails and can grasp objects, including his or her ears and umbilical cord.
Preborn babies are certainly viable at 24 weeks, and there are numerous instances of them surviving outside the womb at this stage and even earlier with medical intervention.
Action Canada exists to defend and promote the killing of preborn children in Canada. Have you never heard of the name before? The organization also has another name: Planned Parenthood Canada.
Planned Parenthood has nothing to do with "parenthood" and everything to do with destroying it through abortion. Shockingly, the organization received over $8.4M in domestic and global federal grants in its last fiscal year to promote killing preborn humans.
Children are our country's most precious resource. With our fertility rate dropping down to 1.26 and the ensuing demographic collapse, every child truly matters. Every child is needed. Every child is a national treasure.
Abortion-promoting organizations are literally destroying our country's children and, consequently, our country's very future. Why are Canadians being forced to foot the bill for organizations that exist to promote the killing of preborn Canadian children?
Government exists to protect the nation's interests and its citizens – those born and those yet to be born.
It's time to call upon the Government of Canada to defund organizations that exist to strip our nation of its future citizens by legal abortion. It's time for the Government of Canada to follow up on the recommendation of the Supreme Court in the 1988 Morgentaler decision that the state draws up legislation to protect the interests of the preborn child.
Conservative Party leader Pierre Poilievre often talks about putting Canada first. If the Conservatives win the next Federal election, they can put Canada first by putting Canada's preborn babies first. They can do this by defunding the abortion lobby.
Please contact Mr. Poilievre at pierre.poilievre@parl.gc.ca and ask him about defunding abortion groups in Canada. Tell him how Action Canada used federal grant money to facilitate the tragic killing of this 24-week-old preborn baby in a late-term abortion.
Let’s be a voice for this tiny victim of abortion. Let’s be bold and daring for life!
