Dear Maureen, I’m Pete Baklinski and this is your Canadian Pro-Life News Bits where I let you know what’s happening on our country’s pro-life and pro-family front.
Pro-life heroine Linda Gibbons was on trial yesterday for her criminal charge of "interfering" with the Toronto Abortion Clinic's business of killing preborn babies. Make sure you check out what was revealed by key witnesses that undermined the Crown's case against Linda.
The abortion lobby is going after Alberta’ Health Minister over the province’s plan to transfer the operation of some provincial-run hospitals to a Catholic Health provider, which has a pro-life ethic. Abortion supporters do not like the plan one bit. You can read a biased report about this below and CLC’s response to this report.
American conservative Ryan T. Anderson has penned a must-read piece in First Things about the way forward for pro-life groups after the fall of Roe v. Wade. He offers some great insights which are also pertinent to the Canadian situation.
On the euthanasia front, a new study claims that MAiD could save Canada's healthcare system up to $136.8 million annually. It’s studies like these that pressure the vulnerable to choose death instead of being a financial “burden” on the healthcare system. Mark my words: pretty soon, the right to die will become the duty to die. It’s only a matter of time.
Canada Post suspended workers who refused to deliver our postcards in New Brunswick. Corporate media, of course, is trying to paint Canada Post (along with CLC) in a bad light over this. But as our director of political operations Jack Fonseca points out, Canada Post “simply does not have the right to engage in viewpoint discrimination.” True. There is now talk from the political elites of giving Canada Post more power by passing a law to ban materials that the left disagrees with.
The 1 Million March for Children takes place today. You can read a few reports about what this is all about. Please pray for the success of this event and the safety of participants who are standing up for children against gender ideology in schools.
Finally, don’t miss my reflection at the end about the Liberals declaring this week that Mr. Trudeau’s government is “feminist” and what this really means.

Cochran Eagle: Alberta’s health minister walks back hospital abortion access claims
“Last week, Alberta Health Minister Adriana LaGrange played down concerns that transferring the operation of some hospitals to Covenant Health would negatively impact reproductive health care, but the minister’s claim about abortion access is contradicted by provincial policy and data.”
CLC comment: The above report by Brett McKay is biased and misleading. Alberta Health Minister Adriana LaGrange didn't "walk back" anything. She merely clarified comments she had made previously. She originally said that there would be "no anticipated change to access to women’s reproductive health” if the operations of AHS hospitals in the province were transferred to the Catholic-based hospital Covenant Health, which doesn't offer things like abortion. “Actually, there won’t be (a change). Because right now no hospital in Alberta performs elective abortions,” she said when an interviewer asked if swapping AHS for Covenant would necessarily create changes to women’s health care. The reporter obviously thought he could nail LaGrange to the floor with this. He reached out to the Health Minister with what he thought was a trump card, noting that elective abortions happen in AHS hospitals via abortion pills. LaGrange’s office responded that in her previous statement, she was "referring to elective surgical abortions.” What she originally said, therefore, is true: Elective abortions (of the surgical kind) are not committed in AHS hospitals. They are only committed in abortion mills in Edmonton and Calgary. But that obviously didn't fit Brett McKay's narrative. So, he spun a story to make LaGrange appear to be tripping over herself and "walking back" a comment when she did nothing of the kind. Shame on Cochrane Eagle for publishing this biased report. No wonder so many Canadians don't trust the media.

Maureen, Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland doubled down in the House of Commons on Sept. 17 that Trudeau's government is "feminist." She explained very clearly what this means.
She said: “Mr. Speaker, I am so glad to have the chance to talk about feminism, because I know what a feminist government looks like. A feminist government builds the first national system of early learning and child care in this country. A feminist government makes contraceptives free, and a feminist government ensures that every single woman in Canada has full control of her body.”
The fact is that Trudeau's "feminist" government is harming women and destroying our country.
If a government really cared about women, it would not give them "free" (tax-payer-funded) contraceptives that poison their bodies, compromising their health and well-being.
Oral contraceptives have been classified by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) as Group 1 carcinogens (cancer-causing). The pill makes women sick. Google it.
In reality, Trudeau's "feminist" government hates women. In reality, it is an anti-woman government. He wants to strangle the very thing in them that every great culture around the world has cherished, treasured, and revered – her God-given fertility.
Jesus warned that a time would come when there would be those who would say: "Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bore, and the breasts that never gave suck!" (Lk. 23:29)
While there have been many historical times that this saying could be applied to, including the fall of Jerusalem, could these words also apply to our times?
Trudeau's "feminist" government will only make our country's plummeting fertility rate of 1.33 (which is well below the replacement rate of 2.1) fall even more with this contraception plan, compromising our country's very future.
And just so Mrs. Freeland is aware, every single woman in Canada already enjoys full control over her body.
She does not, however, control the bodies of other people, only her own body.
And, this is why abortion is wrong: the preborn baby's body is not the body of the mother. There are two separate bodies here. If the preborn baby is female, she also must have full control of her body.
Trudeau's "feminist" government is harming women and harming Canada.
It’s time to stand up and defend Canadian women. It’s time to stand up and defend our country.
Be bold and daring for life!
