January 10, 2025
Dear Maureen, I’m Pete Baklinski. Welcome to your first edition in 2025 of the Canadian Pro-Life News Bits – where I let you know what’s happening on our country’s pro-life and pro-family front. It’s great to have you back on board again!
So much has happened in the very first week of the new year. Justin Trudeau, our country’s most pro-abortion PM, announced his forthcoming resignation and prorogation of Parliament until the end of March. We immediately put out a press release about this, thanking God. It highlighted Trudeau’s legacy of death. It generated some news, being picked up nationally and internationally. Make sure you check it out.
My boss, Jeff Gunnarson, was interviewed by Western Standard for a piece about how Trudeau accelerated a “heavily taxpayer-funded attack on the most helpless and vulnerable”–the preborn along with the sick and elderly. There are some startling facts in this piece, and it’s well worth reading.
One piece of excellent news coming in the wake of Trudeau’s prorogation of Parliament is that all government bills and unfinished business have been effectively terminated, including the Liberals' evil planned legislation to strip pro-life pregnancy centres of their charitable status if they failed to jump through ideologically-based hoops. Praise God!
And, speaking of charitable status, Trudeau’s announcement to resign came just in the knick of time as a government report leading up to the 2025 budget recommended, among other things, that the government no longer provide charitable status to religious organizations, such as churches, and to pro-life groups–a move that would simply devastate them. Since a 2025 budget will not be released by the Libs because of the prorogation of Parliament, the recommendations of the pre-budget report, thankfully, can’t be adopted any time soon, and, hopefully, never will be.
In another piece of news, with the clock ticking on the Liberal government, there’s a good chance that its ill-conceived ‘free’ contraception Pharmacare plan may come crashing down.
Don’t miss the “good news” stories from this week and the must-see video about a woman who turned the pain and regret from her abortion into a mission with a purpose.
Finally, don’t miss my reflection at the end about a new day that is beginning to dawn in Canada.

“The clock is ticking for Health Minister Mark Holland to sign agreements with the provinces and the territories that would see the cost of medications for diabetes and contraceptives covered, says the former chairman of an advisory council on universal drug access.”
Comment: The Liberal’s Pharmacare plan was ill-conceived at best, and a joke at worst. And now, it looks like the provinces are in a position to call it out. If all the provinces don’t sign on to it before the government gets kicked out with an election, it may entirely flop. This is excellent news. The plan promises women something they don’t even need–contraception, funded by you and me, the taxpayers. The truth is that women’s fertility is already regulated by their monthly cycle. If they don’t want to become pregnant, they simply refrain from intimacy during the fertile window, which lasts only a handful of days a month. Fertility awareness methods have been developed to a science and are entirely free to use. No woman needs contraceptives, which only enslaves them to big pharma, not to mention that contraceptives make women sick and can cause cancer. Blanketing the country in contraception would only drive up health costs in the long run as more and more women made sick by it need medical help, emptying the coffers of the public health system. Hormonal contraceptives also carry with them the added problem that they are abortifacient to the newly conceived embryo. With our country’s fertility rate plummeting to the lowest of the low at 1.26, the billions of dollars that would have been invested in this useless program could be better spent encouraging Canadian women to get married and have more babies–lots of them. The future of our country depends on it.
End of Life | Euthanasia
Western Standard: Hospice society offers 'Do Not Euthanize' kit to stop 'Canadian cull'
“The Delta Hospice Society (DHS) issued the kit late last year. The kit includes a wallet-sized DNE card that includes the name of the cardholder and reads, “I require healthcare not ‘MAID.’”
Euthanasia Prevention Coalition: Canadian doctors push for euthanasia by organ donation
“One of the problems with legalizing euthanasia, as in Canada, is that the law permits doctors and nurse practitioners to kill their patients. The question then arises: why kill a person by lethal poison first and then remove the healthy organs when removing healthy organs first, is more efficacious and will naturally result in a dead person.”

Maureen, here’s one major sign of why Canada will become pro-life someday.
In the months leading up to his resignation announcement, Canadian PM Justin Trudeau used the same playbook to try to prop up his failing Liberal government that US presidential candidate Kamala Harris used in her attempt to secure the 2024 US election.
Both Kamala and Trudeau campaigned almost exclusively on abortion.
They promised to be the most aggressive defenders of killing preborn babies.
In a most evil and twisted way, they attempted to gain political advantage by championing the dismemberment, decapitation, and disembowelment of the smallest and most vulnerable members of the human family–preborn children.
Thanks be to God, the American people resoundingly rejected Kamala and her extreme abortion agenda.
And, thanks be to God, Canadians aren't falling for this trap either–at least that's what national polling indicates, showing that the Liberal Party would be decimated in an election, retaining only some 30 seats, with Trudeau losing his seat. Almost 70% of Canadians disapprove of Trudeau, indicating that they are not only rejecting him but his left-leaning extremism.
Even Liberal MPs like Judy Sgro now candidly admit that the Liberal Party went “too far to the left” during Trudeau’s reign.
When the Liberal Party comes crashing to the ground in the upcoming election, Trudeau’s black-hearted legacy of death will come crashing down with it.
A new day is beginning to dawn in Canada. Trudeau is losing his iron grip that throttled the country’s abortion debate.
The time has come for a new abortion debate based on the overwhelming scientific consensus that life begins at conception and that preborn babies are full members of the human family from the moment of their first beginning.
Yes, a new day is dawning for our country’s preborn who are desperately waiting for their day of justice when their inalienable right to life—which is guaranteed to “everyone” in our Charter of Rights and Freedoms—will be honoured and respected.
With Trudeau soon to be gone, a new day is dawning for Canada’s pro-life movement. The future is bright and full of hope.
Light is more powerful than darkness. Life is more powerful than death. In the end, light wins. In the end, life triumphs. The future of Canada will be pro-life.
Be bold and daring for life!
