Tue, Mar 7, 9:43 PM

March 8 is International Women’s Day and the theme this year, in Canada is, Every Woman Counts.

On the Government of Canada website it quotes this year’s theme as EVER WOMAN COUNTS. It goes on to say, “It’s a reminder that all women, from all ages and walks of life, have a place in every aspect of Canadian society, including in the economic, social and democratic spheres.”

This reminds me of a conversation that I had once at the vigil site with a lady who didn’t agree with our pro-life stance. I asked her, “If you can have the right to choose to have an abortion, why can’t I have the right to say, choose life for the baby?” Her answer was, “Because my choice is better than yours.”  ? ? ? I don’t get it.

Society thinks it’s a bad choice when a frightened pregnant woman in a dilemma over whether or not to abort, chooses life. And we believe that their decision to abort is a poor choice. If Every Woman Counts, that should mean that I count and so does every pro-life woman; our choices and decisions are valid. And, it should include the rights of the unborn baby girls who are aborted because they are female.

Please pray for the innocent little ones who are aborted, just because they are not the desired sex.

To date, 136 abortion facilities have closed since the 40 Days for Life campaigns began and since February 22, 2023, 114 little lives have been reported as spared from abortion.

Just a reminder that the Novena of Masses to pray for the closure of the Bank Street abortion facility and the conversion of the staff and abortionists is continuing at:

St. Mary (Our Lady of Good Counsel) Parish, 100 Young Street, Ottawa, K1Y 3P7, from Saturday, March 4th to Sunday, March 12th inclusive, all at 9 am.

Holy Redeemer Parish, 44 Rothesay Drive, Kanata K2L 2X1 on Friday March 10 at 9 am and also on Monday March 13 at 9 am.

I have arranged at my parish, Holy Redeemer, to have a Mass each week during Lent. If you have any pro-life events or Masses at your church between now and April 2, let me know and I’ll pass along the information.

Wanda

40 Days for Life, first week

40DAYSottawa

We are one week into the Winter/Spring 40 Days for Life campaign. 604 cities world-wide are participating in this campaign with prayer vigils outside of abortion centers. In Ontario, 8 cities (Hamilton, Niagara Falls, Guelph, Oakville, Sarnia, Toronto, Welland and Windsor) are in that number of 604, according to Campaign Life Coalition.

On LifeNews, I saw an interesting story and short video about babies in the womb, jumping around, waving, yawning, and sucking their thumb. I hope you can access it:  buff.ly/2WSFcwW

God is amazing! No one else can create the masterpiece of a human being.

This week a Novena of Masses to pray for the closure of the Bank Street abortion centre and the conversion of the staff and abortionists is taking place:

at St. Mary (Our Lady of Good Counsel) Parish, 100 Young Street, Ottawa, K1Y 3P7, from Saturday, March 4th to Sunday, March 12th inclusive, all at 9 am.

and at Holy Redeemer Parish, 44 Rothesay Drive, Kanata K2L 2X1 on Saturday March 4, at 9 am.

Yours for Life,

Wanda

Start of the Campaign

Dear Maureen,

The Winter-Spring 40 Days for Life campaign is underway and I want to tell you about how you can take part and help save the lives unborn babies.

For those who don’t know, 40 Days is a growing global movement, with pro-lifers taking part in hundreds of cities in North America, including right across Canada.

I have a personal story to share with you about an experience I had at a 40 Days vigil last year, but first I want to tell you about the eight vigils taking place here in Ontario. Click on any of the links below for details about the location closest to you.

The 40 Days for Life movement first came to Canada more than a decade ago, back when Campaign Life Coalition planted the first prayer vigils outside abortuaries in Toronto, Ottawa, and Halifax.

Since then, it has spread across the country, with local organizers bringing the vigils to their cities and towns, and the results have been so encouraging.

What strikes me the most about the 40 Days for Life vigils is the power of public, communal prayer.

Not only are you peacefully witnessing the depravity of abortion, but you're also serving as a public witness to your Christian faith, which is a rare opportunity these days here in Canada.

For many people, the thought of standing on a public street corner may seem like an incredibly daunting, near-impossible task, but …

Knowing that you’re serving God, and allowing Him to do the work in changing the hearts of passersby and women in crisis, makes it seem like a much more achievable goal.

I experienced that last year when I organized a 40 Days for Life vigil in Hamilton.

The first morning I went out, I was greeted by a group of devout Christian women who decided to pray in front of a hospital on their knees, so I decided to join them.

It was such a liberating and peaceful experience, knowing that our fear of public witness is fuelled by Satan himself, but that can be driven out when we trust in God's intercession.

So, if you want to grow in humility and faith, while loving mothers and their preborn babies, I recommend getting involved in or starting a 40 Days for Life campaign.

We need prayer warriors across the country, especially those who are willing to stand in the public square.

It also helps to do it with a group of friends, family members, or fellow parishioners. Group prayer is certainly powerful. It's such a deep bonding experience as well.

Our nation, and our world, can always benefit from a little extra prayer. So, commit today, and join thousands of other Canadians in praying, fasting, and witnessing for an end to abortion. The campaign runs until April 2nd.

If you have any questions, contact your local campaign for more details or reach out to 40 Days for Life directly.

April 1 2023

On Sunday, April 2, we conclude the Winter/Spring 40 Days for Life campaign. Lent is not over for another week, because Lent does not count Sundays as penitential days. But the 40 Days for Life campaign lasts exactly 40 days.

Thank you for being a faithful prayer warrior for God’s unborn precious little ones.

As we conclude, I’m just sending along a few thoughts.

Here are the words I found on a prayer card that I received when Pope Benedict XVI was newly elected:

“Each of us is the result of a thought of God.  Each of us is willed, each of us is loved, each of us is necessary.”

And last March 23, Sean Carney, President/CEO of 40 Days for Life, sent out this prayer:

Eternal Father, You love us with infinite and unfathomable love. Grant us the grace to understand the incalculable dignity of each human person. Strengthen us in our daily struggle against evil, so that we may be witnesses in the world of Your love for us. Grant this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

To date, since Feb. 22, 2023 – 327 lives have been recorded as spared from abortion.

I tried, at my parish, to have a novena of Masses said during this 40 Days for Life campaign. That’s nine days of single intention Masses for the closure of the Bank Street abortion facility and the conversion of the staff. We have a large congregation at Holy Redeemer, and many people request Masses. The best I could do was have one Mass each week over a nine-week period. Each week I have been sending out the day.

Here are the dates of the remaining Mass. All the Masses are at 9:00 am:

Location:  Holy Redeemer Parish, 44 Rothesay Drive Kanata K2L 2X1 Monday April 3; Thursday, April 13; Thursday April 20; Thursday April 27.

I’ll be back in touch at a later date with information on the 2023 Fall 40 Days for Life campaign.

Wishing you a blessed Easter,

Wanda
