A MASS OF REPENTANCE FOR THE HEALING OF THE NATION OF CANADA,

A Day of Repentance for the Healing of the Nation of Canada March 19, 2011,

Saint George Catholic Church in Ottawa, organized by Diane Naipaul of Ottawa

Thank you Dianne!

( Canada is so in need of prayers: today more than ever!)

Reception

Praise and Worship

A Box for Genograms is also placed at the front of the Altar

For the Prayers of the Faithful we require 13 men, 13 women and 13 youth, preferably representative of each Province, or Territory, to comprise 13 groups of people.

The intentions are for the most important needs of the Province/Territory at the time that the Mass is being offered, and for Canada in general. When the name of the Province/Territory you represent is called, we ask that your Group proceed to the front of the Altar.

Each young person will be in front of the trio and will carry a Flag from one of our Provinces/Territories. The flag is to be placed in the center of a Styrofoam 1/2 ball beginning at the extreme left hand side.

Each lady will bring up a Rose. These Roses represents each Province and Territory of Canada and are being offered to Our Lady with the request that she join us in intercession for the Nation of Canada. They are to be placed in the Vase provided for them. There can be one white rose and twelve red ones if you wish, or a mixture of red and white roses.

We are asking the female volunteers to take the roses home after the Mass, and to make a commitment to pray for the Province that they represent, for nine days. You might wish to pray a Novena to St. Joseph, as he is the Patron Saint of Canada.

Each man will be asked to bring up a lighted candle, which is to be placed in front of the Flag brought up by the young person in his group, in the containers provided for them.

Pre-decorated Tables

A large white candle is placed in the middle of a table. This candle is symbolic of Jesus, Who should always be placed at the center of our lives, and who is 'The Light of the World', and our Chief Intercessor before God the Father. Thirteen tea light candles, in red and white containers, should be placed in a circle around the large white one. These are representative of each Province and Territory and are being offered to God our Father, to light the pathway for our prayers. The ‘fire’ from the lighted candles represents the ‘Fire of the Holy Spirit’.

Each lady will bring up a Rose. These Roses represent each Province and Territory of Canada and are being offered to Our Lady with the request that she join us in intercession for the Nation of Canada. They are to be placed in the Vase provided for them. There can be one white Rose and twelve red ones if you wish, or a mixture of red and white Roses.

You may also wish to have a small Canadian Flag, encircled by smaller ones also representing each Province and Territory in the display.

It would be nice if the Knights of Columbus could participate in this Event, and if

'Song for Canada', by Lianna Klassen, is played after the Mass.

The Evening could conclude with the National Anthem.
