Dear Maureen, I’m Pete Baklinski, and this is your Canadian Pro-Life News Bits – where I let you know what’s happening on our country’s pro-life and pro-family front.
Did you know there are currently more than 100 pro-life candidates running in the April 28 federal election? Make sure you check out the story about who these potential MPs are and how you can vote for them. You can check out who we’ve green-lit in your riding at voteprolife.ca.
Our team has been working in overdrive for weeks, updating records and candidate profiles. The deadline to register candidates is April 7th, so as we identify pro-life candidates, we'll be updating the above website. Please check back regularly in the coming weeks for updates.
I was shocked this week to discover the nine ways in which the Liberal Party wages war on preborn babies and pro-life advocates. See if you can guess what some of them are before you check out my report on this.
The Catholic Register highlights in a new report how discussion on abortion is largely absent from this election cycle. Believe me when I tell you that we’re doing everything in our power to bring the plight of the preborn targeted for destruction by abortion into the spotlight for this election. CLC president Jeff Gunnarson was interviewed in this report and provides a hopeful perspective.
A Christian medical student was outrageously expelled from the University of Manitoba after posting his pro-life views on social media. Thankfully, he is challenging the decision and taking the university to court. Bravo!
My colleague Josie Luetke gave a video interview to Radio Maria Canada about pro-life activism in our country. If you want to know what it’s like to work full-time in the pro-life movement, check out Josie’s inspirational interview.
The Euthanasia Prevention Coalition is calling on voters to vote for candidates who will rein in our country’s out-of-control euthanasia regime. Even a UN committee is now calling on Canada to repeal a law that allows euthanasia for people who are not dying. If the left-leaning, progressive UN is asking Canada to backtrack, you know that what Canada is doing is very, very bad.
A Canadian woman was fined $10K for privately warning her female friend against getting transgender top surgery. Thankfully, the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms is stepping in to appeal the decision.
The April edition of CLC National News, our premier communication, is now available online by clicking here. Don’t miss CLC President Jeff Gunnarson’s important Easter letter to pro-lifers about defending faith and family.
Don’t miss the must-see video of the week in which Matt Walsh, creator of the documentary What is a Woman?, totally destroys the transgender movement in a two-minute speech before the California State Assembly in support of a law that would ban men claiming to be female from women’s sports.
Finally, don’t miss my reflection at the end in which I call out the National Post for running a podcast in which it is falsely stated that Canada’s “abortion debate” has been “killed” for decades. Find out the truth about the abortion debate.

Watch Matt Walsh destroy the transgender movement in under two minutes.
Maureen, the National Post hosted a podcast this week titled “Who killed Canada’s abortion debate?”
Podcast author Tristin Hopper stated in reference to Henry Morgentaler’s campaign to normalize the killing of preborn Canadians: “The ordeal was so divisive, so heated and so unpleasant that an exhausted country gave up on finding a way through it, and instead just decided to never tackle the issue again.”
Here are five reasons why the National Post is wrong about Canada giving up on tackling abortion:
1. The pro-life movement is one of Canada’s largest and most vibrant social/political movements, especially through grassroots activism, sidewalk counselling, pregnancy resource centres, and post-abortion healing ministries.
2. We’re in every Canadian province, city, and village. Collectively, we’re over a million strong and continue to gain strength every day, especially from young people who are on fire to defend life at every stage.
3. The National March for Life, which demands legal protection for preborn children, is the largest annual gathering on Parliament Hill, and has drawn up to 25,000 concerned citizens. The next one is May 8, 2025. It's going to be big.
4. Modern ultrasound imaging, fetal surgery, and viability improvements for premature babies allow people to see the humanity of the preborn child more clearly than ever before. These advancements simply destroy the “pro-choice” narrative that the preborn are not human or merely a “clump of cells.” More young people are switching from “pro-choice” to “pro-life” than ever before. Polls show this.
5. Canada has no legal framework for protecting preborn children from abortion, resulting in continuous political discourse where governments are constantly pressured to either restrict or expand abortion access, keeping the issue at the forefront of public debate.
For example, championing abortion is historically one of the Liberals’ most-used election talking points.
Mark Carney made headlines on the day he called the election for coming out as “proudly” and “unreservedly” in favour of killing preborn babies. Only in a country with an active abortion debate would a politician again and again have to show his allegiance to one side or the other.
“Who killed Canada’s abortion debate?” the podcaster asks in the title of his piece.
No one.
The abortion debate continues — and will continue — until abortion is abolished. The overturning of Roe v. Wade in the U.S. in 2022 demonstrated what kind of gains can be made by the pro-life movement. Pro-life gains in the U.S. will eventually spill over to Canada, making the future of Canada, one day, pro-life.
Canada’s pro-life movement will never give up, we will never surrender, until preborn children have the same protections as everyone else.
That this will happen is inevitable. Truth is on the pro-life side and pro-life advocates are on the side of God. We are unstoppable. Life will win.
Be bold and daring for life!
