Dear Maureen, I’m Pete Baklinski, and this is your Canadian Pro-Life News Bits – where I let you know what’s happening on our country’s pro-life and pro-family front.
While the Federal election did not go as well for the Conservatives as many CPC members had hoped, there were some significant gains for the pro-life movement. Six new pro-life MPs were elected, and all 36 incumbent pro-life MPs were re-elected. There are now a total of 42 MPs solidly green-lit by Campaign Life Coalition in our country’s seat of power. Make sure you read our Press Release about the election results.
Next week is the 28th annual National March for Life in Ottawa. Our team is working hard to make this May 8 event a huge success for the preborn. I’ll be there with our team early next week to help at events prior to the March. Check out the whole list of events at marchforlife.ca. I hope to see you there! Oh, and there will be no News Bits next week because of the March.
Canada’s top pro-life investigator, Patricia Maloney, has found shocking evidence of an increase in failed late-term abortions in Canada, where the baby was born alive and left to die. There were over 100 more in the most recent period when compared to the previous period. How is this allowed to happen in our country? God have mercy!
The May edition of CLC National News, our monthly newsletter, is now available online. You can view and print the newsletter by clicking on this link. The newsletter is a great way to catch up on the most pressing life and family issues. Don’t miss CLC President Jeff Gunnarson’s letter to pro-lifers about raising up courageous pro-life leaders.
And, don’t miss my reflection at the end about the wasteful spending of government money in the tens of millions of dollars on an abortion-promoting organization. You may be surprised at what I think the solution should be.

Maureen, one of Canada's top abortion advocacy groups is calling on the new Carney Liberal government to appoint a dedicated "Minister for Women and Gender Equality (WAGE)."
"We call on Prime Minister Carney to make gender equality and women’s rights a core priority for this new government," states Action Canada, which also goes by the name "Planned Parenthood Canada."
“Appointing a dedicated Minister for Women and Gender Equality (WAGE) will send a clear message that Canada remains a global leader in advancing equality, fairness, and justice at a time of rising authoritarianism and threats to democracy,” the group added.
The sad fact is, however, that Action Canada sees “gender equality” and “women’s rights” as synonymous with killing preborn children. This group exists to create access to and expand the killing of the weakest and most vulnerable among us, the preborn. This evil.
What Canada really needs is not the group’s proposed WAGE minister, but something more akin to the United States’ recently established Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
A made-in-Canada DOGE is needed to stop money from flowing into the coffers of organizations that exist to promote the killing of preborn Canadian children.
Did you know that since 2018, Action Canada has been listed on some 22 Federal grants totalling a mind-blowing $45.8 million?
That's over 45 million dollars of your hard-earned tax dollars going to fund an organization that exists to help end human lives. It's so wrong.
The truth is that preborn children are our country's hope and future. Why are citizens footing the bill for an organization that exists to wipe out our future and our hope?
It’s time to demand the defunding of these anti-human organizations. Mr. Carney has touted himself as an economist. Surely, he must realize that economies only thrive with robust up-and-coming generations. If he had any sense, he would defund groups like Action Canada immediately.
Someone needs to make this case to Mr. Carney.
In the meantime, be bold and daring for life!
