Dear Maureen, I’m Pete Baklinski, and this is your Canadian Pro-Life News Bits – where I let you know what’s happening on our country’s pro-life and pro-family front.
We commissioned a poll in the riding into which Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre was parachuted for the upcoming by-election. The results were stunning: Poilievre does not represent the pro-life values held by the vast majority of people in the riding. This is huge news. You can read more about it in the report below.
The American magazine The Atlantic has published a thoroughly researched and surprisingly objective article on euthanasia in Canada titled Canada is Killing Itself. It is a lengthy piece that raises questions about doctors who have killed hundreds of patients and about victims who chose euthanasia because they could not access proper care. Mainstream media is finally beginning to wake up to the horror that occurs when we legally allow the healthy and strong to kill the sick and weak.
Real Women of Canada has released concerning news about the unusual rise of transgenderism throughout Nova Scotia. The group is right to wonder if what is happening in the province may be a case of social engineering.
Do not miss the powerful poem at the end, written by one of our supporters, which she was inspired to write while picketing an abortion mill one day.
And a quick heads up: I will be on holiday for the next couple of weeks. The Canadian Pro-Life News Bits will return in September. See you then!
Campaign Life Coalition: Poll finds Pierre Poilievre is not well aligned with Battle River-Crowfoot voters
“Poilievre’s “pro-choice” position does not align with the values of the voters he’s hoping to represent in the August 18th by-election. This is according to a public-opinion survey conducted July 23, 2025, in the federal riding of Battle River–Crowfoot.”
The Atlantic: Canada is Killing Itself
“The country gave its citizens the right to die. Doctors are struggling to keep up with demand.”
Real Women of Canada: Nova Scotia Wallows in Woke Transgenderism
“Nova Scotia is one of the smaller provinces both geographically and by population, and has a more cohesive population. It is easier, therefore, to carry out social experiments under such circumstances, and this might be the explanation for the higher proportion of transgenders in that province.”
ARPA: UN Report Stands Up for Women and Girls
“Medical transitioning for minors, pornography, and sex-selective abortion are prominent and egregious forms of sex-based violence in Canada. We should implement the United Nations Special Rapporteur’s recommendations to stop these injustices.”
LifeNews: Costco Decides Against Selling Abortion Pills
“Costco Wholesale Corp. has announced it will not dispense the abortion pill mifepristone at its U.S. pharmacies, a decision hailed by pro-life advocates as a significant victory.”
Pregnancy Help News: A decade-long journey to choosing life
“I want to share a story that reminds me to slow down and see the harvest that’s right in front of me.”
Live Action: After an abortion and miscarriage, God opened her eyes to the truth
“While she still considered herself a Buddhist, she began questioning who the Author of Life was.”
LifeNews: A Texas City Has Become the 81st in America to Ban Abortions
“On Tuesday, August 12th, the City Council of Clyde, Texas (pop. 4,051) became the 81st city in the nation, and the 64th city in the State of Texas, to pass a Sanctuary City for the Unborn Ordinance.”

Dr. Calum Miller
Maureen, a supporter from Halifax recently sent this stirring poem to our National President, Jeff Gunnarson.
In her note, she shared that these words came to her while she was picketing—sometimes entirely alone—outside an abortion mill in her neighbourhood. The poem made me think of a lighthouse battered by the waves.
I AM A ROCK
I am a rock
The tide of evil foams and beats
Upon my staunch solidity
To test my strength
To quench my light
Yet, deeply grounded, still I stand
For the defense of God and home and land.
I stand for truth
The Bible my authority
Forsaking bland security
With heart and voice and hand and pen
A blazon forth the words of life
And have them thrown into my face again.
Yet I endure
Steadfast, with no compromise
By proclamation and by life
I exemplify the right
Upholding, sending forth the light
To lead to righteousness through sin’s dark night.
I am a rock
I stand for truth
And I endure.
