Dear Maureen, I’m Pete Baklinski, and this is your Canadian Pro-Life News Bits – where I let you know what’s happening on our country’s pro-life and pro-family front.
My colleague, Jack Fonseca, has penned a piece about Ontario Catholic school trustee Michael Del Grande holding the school board accountable for suppressing information about the National March for Life from its students and staff. Del Grande continues to be a beacon of light on the school board.
One of our summer interns, Tanis Cortens, has written an eye-opening piece about the horrific way Iceland is "solving" Down syndrome—by eliminating those who have it. What’s happening is atrocious.
In some good news, a pro-life advocate in Quebec who works with our sister organization, the Quebec Life Coalition, is running in an upcoming by-election. Please keep Arpad and his campaign in your prayers.
The must-see video of the week, about a preemie surviving at 22 weeks, is inspiring. Modern medicine is truly remarkable when applied in situations like this.
Don’t miss my reflection at the end about a tale of two babies and what late-term abortion really means in Canada.

Comment: We always find it humorous when left-leaning news outlets find it worthy of a story that a group is campaigning to help keep Catholic schools—well, Catholic.
Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms: Female beauty pageant urges dismissal of transgender human rights complaint
Transgender activist Jessica Yaniv is seeking $10,000 in damages for “injury to dignity and feelings” and a ruling against the pageant that it must allow biological males to participate alongside biological females and young girls.

"Born at 22 weeks, Tuff defied the odds to become the youngest baby ever discharged from Wellstar Kennestone’s NICU. Now he’s two years old and a walking miracle."
Maureen, in a recently shared Reddit post, a 22-year-old woman from British Columbia described her late-term abortion at BC Women’s Hospital.
She was 26 weeks and two days pregnant when doctors ended her baby’s life through a labour-induction abortion.
The method was grim: after taking a drug to begin the process, she received a feticide injection—potassium chloride, which went straight into her baby’s heart, killing the baby in seconds. Thirteen hours later, the woman gave birth to her lifeless child.
She never saw her baby. She called the experience “positive.”
This is what late-term abortion looks like in Canada: a healthy, viable baby—old enough to respond to his mother’s voice, strong enough to kick—is killed by lethal injection and delivered dead.
It is legal. It is happening in our hospitals. And it is called “healthcare.”
Now, consider this.
A tiny baby named “Tuff” entered the world in Georgia. He was born at 22 weeks of gestation. Doctors weren’t sure if he’d make it. But they fought for his life. Thanks to the tireless work of NICU staff and modern medical advances, Tuff survived.
Today, he’s a happy, cupcake-eating, wild little toddler. His mom calls him a “walking miracle.”
This is the story of two babies.
One baby at 26 weeks’ gestation was killed before he could take a breath.
The other baby at 22 weeks’ gestation was rescued, nurtured, and loved into life.
What makes the difference?
Nothing but the will to protect and the choice to care. Both babies are fully human and worthy of protection. Both deserve to live.
Tuff’s story shows what’s possible when we choose life. The Canadian story shows what happens when we don’t.
This is why we fight. This is why the pro-life movement exists, because we know that every child—whether in the womb at 22 weeks or 26 weeks—is a gift of God and a miracle waiting to be born.
We will not be silent while “positive” experiences of death are shared online as if they were triumphs. We know the truth: every abortion is a tragedy.
Let’s keep telling the truth. Let’s keep standing for life. Let’s be the voice for the babies who never get the chance to speak.
Be bold and daring for life!
