Dear Maureen, I’m Pete Baklinski and this is your Canadian Pro-Life News Bits where I let you know what’s happening on our country’s pro-life and pro-family front.

We’re dismayed to see the Liberals sweep New Brunswick on Monday’s provincial election. With the election of Susan Holt’s Liberal government, parents can expect to see their rights over their children stripped away at publicly-funded schools and taxpayer money dolled out by the fistful to fund abortion and contraception. The province is headed for hard times. Lord, have mercy. 

Alberta Premier Danielle Smith is all in favour of speech rights, that is until it comes to pro-life advocates. She won’t consider overturning bubble zone legislation outside of abortion centres put in place by the NDP. Speech rights are for everyone. If they are denied to some, in reality, nobody is protected. 

REAL Women of Canada has penned an excellent piece about the Canadian Anti-Hate Network’s assault on Campaign Life Coalition. Yes, the title of the piece seems accurate: “The Anti-Hate Network is Full of Hate.” This is a must-read. 

In this week’s must-see video, Catholic Register has teamed up with Salt and Light Media to interview pro-life Canadians about the work they’re doing to advance the cause of life. Former CLC president Jim Hughes is interviewed. The video did not shy away from showing how pro-life advocates use abortion victim photography to educate the public about the reality of abortion effectively.

Maureen, the NDP is putting forward a motion on its next opposition day to force the House of Commons to, surprisingly, reopen the abortion debate. 

Yes, you read that right. The NDP, of course, seems to be only concerned about increasing the number of Canadian children killed by abortion. And, it wants to use politics to increase the body count.  

It’s disturbingly evil. 

The preamble to the NDP motion relates a number of lies about abortion.  

“Whereas the Liberal government has had nine years to expand access to abortion services in Canada, but failed to do so;” 

Fact check: False

Justin Trudeau is the most pro-abortion Prime Minister in Canada’s history. He has done more than any other to increase access to and expand abortion in Canada. He has poured hundreds of millions of dollars into national abortion groups to do this. Latest abortion numbers show that abortions are on the rise.  

“Whereas Conservative MPs have repeatedly brought forward anti-choice legislation that would limit reproductive freedoms and rights;” 

Fact check: False

During Trudeau’s time in office, Conservative MPs have only brought forward legislation proposals to protect pregnant women and to ban abortions that specifically target girls because they are girls. Even abortion activists admitted that the proposed laws did not target ‘abortion rights’ directly. 

 “And whereas abortion is health care;” 

Fact check: False 

Health care is the organized provision of medical care to people so that they can maintain or improve their health via the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of disease, illness, or injury. Pregnancy is not a disease, illness, or injury. Ending a pregnancy by killing the baby is in no way health care. It has nothing to do with health and everything to do with death. Abortion is death care.  

“This House calls on the government to enforce the Canada Health Act and ensure equal access to publicly funded abortion care across all provinces and territories.”

Since all the preambles to the motion are false, the motion itself is indefensible.

My colleague Josie Luetke noted how unhinged this motion truly is. 

"Nobody who has been paying attention can honestly claim that abortion 'care' has been chipped away at over the past decade. We wish that were true, but the sad reality is that abortion access has only expanded through the rapid spread of chemical abortion, the millions of dollars the Liberals have poured into the abortion lobby, and their enthusiastic promotion of abortion in every forum and at every turn,” she said.  

At the end of the day, the NDP is creating a fantasy world at the expense of preborn human lives. It's purely evil that the NDP under Jagmeet Singh is trying to build political momentum by promoting baby killing.
