Dear Maureen, I’m Pete Baklinski and this is your Canadian Pro-Life News Bits where I let you know what’s happening on our country’s pro-life and pro-family front.
There’s so much important news this week. First of all, CLC has been officially blacklisted as a “hate group” by a Trudeau-funded organization that seeks to “defeat” groups it disagrees with.
For the record, CLC is a national pro-life organization which works at all levels of government to secure full legal protection for the preborn from the first moment of their existence. We defend the sanctity of human life against threats posed by abortion and euthanasia. We champion real marriage, the family, and parental rights.
If this makes us a “hate group,” then we are guilty as charged.
I think you’ll agree, however, that the converse is true: groups that actively work to shut down Christian and Conservative-leaning institutions and voices are the ones who are the real haters. There are a number of must-read reports about this situation and how it could negatively affect our operations.
How about some good news?
The city of St Catharines repealed a bylaw that restricted pro-life speech by banning “fetal” images. This came in the wake of a legal challenge to the bylaw from the pro-life group the Association of Reformed Political Action (ARPA) Canada. This is the second city in weeks — something similar just happened in London — to abandon censorship of pro-life speech after the pro-life movement flexed its legal muscle. Now, groups like CCBR will be able to show the truth about abortion in these cities unmolested. Praise God!
Did you know that there is a 24-7 online prayer room in Canada that exclusively prays to end abortion and save babies? It’s called Life Room. My friend Sandra Gullacher, who is Life Room’s Operations Manager, reached out to me to let me know that they’re looking for people to pray and fill some slots.
Want to join faith-filled Canadians across the country to pray to end abortion and save babies? Life Room may be for you. Visit LifeRoom.ca for more info.
Finally, don't miss my reflection at the end about how being labelled a "hate group" is the beginning of an all-out persecution of faith-based groups like CLC.
We need your help to fight back! If you appreciate the work we do and want to see it continued, please help us out with a much-needed donation.

CLC is under attack. We’ve been labelled as a “hate group.” There’s a saying that you don’t receive flak unless you’re over the target. We must be doing good work to be attacked this way. Maureen, you may wonder, what’s the big deal about being blacklisted by a group like the Canadian Anti-Hate Network (CAHN)?
You may be surprised how much this could harm us.
It could result in CLC being de-platformed by the cooperate world so that groups on the list can no longer bank, receive donations, and use social media.
It could result in government entities refusing to have anything to do with organizations on the list. For example, being on such a list may result in CLC being denied a government-granted permit to hold the National March for Life, our signature and most prominent annual event, at Parliament Hill.
In the worst case, being on such a list could result in violence and attempted murder.

This is precisely what happened to the US Family Research Council after it was put on a “hate list” by the US-based Southern Poverty Law Center, an “anti-hate” group that was instrumental in helping to launch its Canadian counterpart, CAHN. In 2012, a gunman entered the building of the socially conservative Christian organization Family Research Council with the intention of killing every person in the organization.
The gunman specifically targeted the organization because it was listed on SPLC’s "hate map" for defending real marriage. Thankfully, the building’s security guard managed to stop the gunman, but not before taking a bullet in the arm.
In the end, groups like CAHN demonize socially conservative Christians. Their hit pieces and blacklist are then used as a weapon by government entities and others to go after and silence opponents.
We cannot let this happen.
Canadians who value freedom and democracy must unite against groups who seek to eradicate our Christian heritage and strip us of our freedoms and rights as Canadians.
For the good of our nation, God-fearing Christians and freedom-loving patriots cannot allow themselves to be labelled this way and put into a box where they can be discriminated against and silenced. We are now looking at our legal options to fight this.
We must recognize in this blacklist the ramping up of an outright persecution against Christians. This is what the beginning of Christian persecution looks like.
Christ himself told his followers that they would be hated for being his disciples and choosing to adhere to the word of God rather than the wisdom of man: “If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you” (John 15:18).
Jesus also told his followers that they have nothing to fear, since he has already “overcome the world” (John 16:33). So, we must carry our heads high without fear of being blacklisted and the persecution that may come from this.
We are on God’s side. And, when God is with us, who can stand against us?
Please join with us in the fight by giving us your most generous donation you can by clicking here.
We are going to continue doing the work of the Lord and we’re going to fight back hard against those who want to falsely label us and shut us down.
