Dear Maureen, I’m Pete Baklinski, and this is your Canadian Pro-Life News Bits – where I let you know what’s happening on our country’s pro-life and pro-family front.
In no surprise, pro-abortion advocate Mark Carney won the Liberal leadership race last Sunday. He will be sworn in as Prime Minister today. Don’t miss my reflection at the end about what Carney’s win means for pro-life advocates.
Our campaign to save Christian Canada is building momentum. Last Friday, CLC president Jeff Gunnarson urged the government in a powerful letter to “officially retract” proposals to strip churches and pro-life groups of their charitable status. You can read the entire letter on our X account, which is linked below. Our petition opposing this is now over five-thousand strong and growing fast. Add your name here.
This week, Canada's Catholic Bishops entered the battle to oppose these anti-Christian tax amendments, also penning an excellent letter to the Minister of Finance expressing “grave concerns” about the proposals and urging the government to “abandon” course. Just when you thought it could not get any worse, a business franchise has started up in Canada to expedite the killing of sick and elderly Canadians in what it calls a “supportive, inclusive, and comfortable setting.” MAiDHouse is a euthanasia franchise that now operates in Toronto and Victoria. These are killing houses and they are evil. God is very clear when he commanded: “Thou shalt not murder.” MAiD is against God’s 5th commandment.
We launched a new campaign to stop New Brunswick’s new Premier Susan Holt’s abortion and LGBT agenda. Check out David Cooke’s report on this, in which he outlines exactly what’s happening in the province.

Maureen, what can pro-life advocates expect with Mark Carney leading the Liberal Party?
Probably nothing different from what the Liberals offered over the past decade under Justin Trudeau. Carney will lead the same caucus that enthusiastically supported Trudeau’s extreme pro-abortion agenda.
The ostensibly “Catholic” Carney has tweeted his support of abortion, reacting to the U.S. Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade: “I’m proud to live in a country where a woman’s right to choose is so strongly supported. But the devastating decision today in the US is a clear reminder that progress should never be taken for granted. Our commitment to protecting fundamental rights must be unwavering.”
Yup, Carney is proud to live in a country that strongly supports the killing of future Canadian citizens. Carney clearly knows nothing of economics when he supports abortion.
Right now, our fertility rate has fallen to a new low of 1.26, far below the 2.1 replacement level. This means that there are fewer and fewer children who grow up to become the necessary tax base to sustain our social systems. A shrinking fertility rate spells eventual economic disaster.
Children are our nation’s most precious resource. They are our country’s future and hope. Without them, we fall into a spiralling cycle of shrinking, diminishment, and ultimately collapse. In a way, children are our country’s economic engine. Without them, we go nowhere. Demography is destiny.
Carney has also signalled his support for the homosexual agenda when he allowed the LGBT rainbow flag to be hoisted over the Bank of England in 2017 to mark “gay pride” celebrations.
And, his track record as a globalizing elite when it comes to worldwide issues certainly rivals that of Trudeau.
So, as the next Prime Minister of Canada, we can expect Carney to continue accelerating the country along the same trajectory as Trudeau to the peril of every Canadian who values life, family, freedom, and democracy.
When an election is called — God willing, soon — Canadians need to give Carney a quick boot out the door.
