Dear Maureen, I’m Pete Baklinski, and this is your Canadian Pro-Life News Bits – where I let you know what’s happening on our country’s pro-life and pro-family front (don't receive the News Bits but want to sign up, click here).
What a fantastic National March for Life we had on May 8. I’m pleased to bring you the March for Life edition of the News Bits.
Our press conference on May 7 was well attended and generated some news. CPAC, CBC, CTV, and a few other outlets showed up to film our event. The morning was threatening rain, but, thanks be to God, the bad weather held off until after our event! Make sure you check out CPAC's video of the entire press conference, which features several CLC staff.
I've included coverage of the press conference, the rally, and the march from various media outlets. Make sure you check out the media splash our events made!
On the evening of May 7, we held a candlelight vigil for victims of abortion. It was very moving, especially the testimony of a woman who had nine abortions and who has now found healing in Christ. You can watch the entire event below.
The following day, the day of the rally and march, was beautiful. In fact, it was rather cold in the morning, and people were wearing sweaters to stay warm.
At the National Mass for Life in Notre Dame Cathedral prior to the rally, one of several pro-life Masses and prayer services that morning, Ottawa Archbishop Marcel Damphousse gave a powerful homily in which he praised the March for Life for making what he called a “huge impact.” Make sure you check out the video clip of this.
The entire rally and march were filmed by EWTN and Dunn Media. They did a fantastic job! You can watch the speakers on the Hill and various interviews with participants.
One of my jobs during the march was to set up my camera along the route and film everyone passing by. We use the footage to count participants. I used my computer to speed up the entire 20 minutes of pro-life people marching by to one minute. In this way, you can watch Canada's largest pro-life march in just 60 seconds! Make sure you check out this video.
The must-see video of the week is our four-minute highlight reel from the rally and march. It’s truly inspiring to watch and gives you a real sense of the excitement of the event.
Thanks to everyone who came out to our event in support of preborn babies. It was great to bump into some of you!
Also, thanks to all those who donated to help cover the cost of putting this event on. If you have not yet donated, we’re still short and could really use some help. Please donate using the button below. Thank you and may God reward you!

Ottawa Archbishop: March for Life makes ‘huge impact’
Watch Canada's largest pro-life march... in just 60 seconds!
Highlights from the 2025 National March for Life.
Maureen, every time I attend the National March for Life and I see so many young families with numerous young children in tow, I become more and more hopeful that abortion will one day come to an end.
Why?
Simple mathematics.
Many who participate in the culture of death are not having the children necessary to continue their movement. Many of them are either using contraception or are, sadly, killing their offspring through abortion.
It's a movement that leads to self-annihilation and extinction.
Those, however, who participate in the culture of life are having children, often many of them, and are forming their children in a pro-life perspective. It is only a matter of time before these families and their offspring become the dominant force across the nation.
In the final analysis, fecundity will win the culture war. It is just a matter of when.
So, keep your head high, be faithful to passing on the torch to the next pro-life generation, and look forward to a day when abortion is unthinkable.
It may come sooner than you think!
In the meantime, be bold and daring for life!
