Dear Maureen, I’m Pete Baklinski and this is your Canadian Pro-Life News Bits where I let you know what’s happening on our country’s pro-life and pro-family front.
Canada may get an early Christmas present if PM Justin Trudeau succumbs to mounting pressure to resign as the Liberal ship continues to sink fast.
There is now a growing list of Liberal MPs calling for his resignation. Even the Toronto Police Association is calling for it. A new poll now shows that a majority of Canadians want an election after Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland’s unexpected resignation. There are additional cabinet ministers who have fled their posts (Housing Minister Sean Fraser also resigned), like rats fleeing a sinking ship. Pray for our country!
If an early election is called, CLC will be ready, giving you the information you need to vote for the pro-life candidate in your riding. Stay tuned!
In other news, Canada’s top pro-life researcher Patricia Maloney has found evidence that Ontario paid US abortionists $327K CAD for ending the lives of 19 preborn Canadian babies in the 2023-24 fiscal year.
Given that the Ontario moms were sent to the US for these abortions, along with the high cost of the terminations, it’s very likely that these babies were killed in the last trimester. This is simply outrageous. Premier Doug Ford, along with Attorney General of Ontario Douglas Downey, must hear about this outrage and do something to end it. If you’re on X, please share this post I created to that effect.
New Westminster is set to become the first town in B.C. to restrict pro-life speech through a bylaw that censors images of abortion victims. This is an egregious attack on the Charter rights of pro-life advocates to freely communicate to fellow citizens. This bylaw further degrades the victims of abortion by hiding the atrocities committed against them. Shame on this town council.
Canadian conservative think tank Cardus has come to the defence of our country’s fantastic pro-life pregnancy resource centres, strongly recommending in a letter to top Liberal governmental officials that they “should not move forward” with their plan to legislate against them.
And, speaking of Cardus, it has just released a new, much-needed book defending marriage as the cornerstone of community and public well-being. Drawing on compelling research, the book delves into the profound ripple effects of strong marriages on health, happiness, and family stability. Implementing the conclusions of this book is necessary for Canada’s future existence.
Don’t miss this week’s must-see video in which pro-life Conservative MP Richard Bragdon gives an astoundingly beautiful Christmas message in the House of Commons recounting Jesus’ birth.
And, don’t miss my reflection at the end about the significance of MP Bragdon’s speech.
Maureen, as you may know, we're currently in the middle of our Christmas fundraising campaign. It's going rather poorly and I'm worried we might not make it.
If only 5% of you who receive these News Bits today responded with a $50 donation, we’d be more than two-thirds of the way to meeting our goal. Will you please do me a huge favour and be one of the 5%? Thank you!

Maureen, Canadian MP Richard Bragdon astoundingly shared the entire Nativity story of Jesus’ birth in the House of Commons a few days ago.
It might be one of the most beautiful Christmas messages you've ever heard. And, it’s even more stunning given that it came from an MP in the House of Commons.
The pro-life MP brought out parts of the nativity story as it relates to hard times happening in Canada today on account of the Trudeau Liberals’ failing policies.
Taxes: “We can see that back then, as it is now, it was a time of taxation. It was a burdensome time.”
Housing crisis: “The innkeeper says there is no room in the inn for them. There was a housing crisis in Bethlehem.”
MP Bragdon even managed to take a stab at NPD leader Jagmeet Singh over his luxury car: “This promised king and prince of peace did not come by way of a palace, was not escorted by a private jet and did not come in a Maserati.”
The entire speech was brilliant. You can watch the entire speech above.
MP Bragdon ended with a powerful testimony to the Son of God, Jesus Christ.
“My prayer for everyone in this House is that it helps all of them to know that, yes, [Jesus] came for everyone on every side of the House, regardless of partisanship or politics, because there are things bigger than politics in life,” he said.
“That is the greatest gift that was ever given, because his name was to be called Emmanuel, which means “God is with us”. He is with us in uncertain times. He is with us in hurtful times. He is with us in painful times and in joyous times, and he promised to never leave us,” MP Bragdon continued.
“With that, to conclude, my wish for the House and for everyone in Canada who is hurting right now is that he may be their Emmanuel, their God, who is with them and with us. Merry Christmas to members and their families,” he concluded.
It’s extremely significant that at this crucial moment in our country, when we face an upcoming election, God is being mentioned in our country’s seat of power. Two additional Conservative MPs, Fraser Tolmie and Andrew Scheer, also recently proclaimed the name of Jesus in the House of Commons. And, MP Michael Barrett recently ended a speech with "Viva Cristo Rey," which translates to "Long live Christ the King."
I view this as a positive sign that times are changing in Canada. My prayer is that our country returns to recognizing what are Charter states in its preamble, namely that Canada is “founded upon principles that recognize the supremacy of God.”
Yes, it seems that God is returning to the House of Commons.
This can only be interpreted as a good sign for things to come in our country–a recognition of the supremacy of God and a joyful submission to God’s laws in our country.
It is only with God that we will flourish as a nation. Come, Lord Jesus!
I wish you and your loved ones a very merry Christmas!
Be bold and daring for life!
