Dear Maureen, I’m Pete Baklinski, and this is your Canadian Pro-Life News Bits – where I let you know what’s happening on our country’s pro-life and pro-family front.
Kathleen (Kathy) Toth, the founding president of Campaign Life Canada, passed away last Friday in the hospital following hip surgery.
Kathy was a pioneering figure in our nation’s pro-life movement. Originally from Edmonton, Alberta, Kathy played a crucial role in uniting pro-life advocates from across Canada, forming the foundation in 1978 of what would become Campaign Life Coalition. She served as president for six years. Kathy gave numerous pro-life presentations, presented before Parliament, and was steadfast in her determination to elect pro-life politicians to Parliament and to provincial legislatures. May God reward Kathy for her commitment to protecting pre-born children.
The second annual Quebec March for Life, happening tomorrow, is facing attacks from pro-abortion activists and from police. Organizers are not backing down. You don’t get flak unless you are over the target, right? Please pray for the success of this event.
It was sobering to read the piece about how abortion pills enable human trafficking in Canada. It’s about a thirteen-year-old victim and how abortion pills kept her trapped by the men who sold her over and over again. This is just one more reason why abortion pills must be banned.
REAL Women of Canada, a pro-woman advocacy group, is calling on the federal government to repeal provisions in the Criminal Code that permit medical aid in dying (MAiD). Since legalizing euthanasia in 2016, MAiD deaths have exploded by 1,407%, reaching over 15,000 a year — including the poor, disabled, and mentally ill. Some now get MAiD faster than they receive medical care. Bravo for what this group is doing.
June is just around the bend, and that means Canadians are forced to bear public displays of sexual hedonism (‘Pride’ parades) and the signs that represent this movement (‘Pride’ flags). We released a report about how ‘Pride Month’ apparel now openly embraces the devil. It’s just another reason for parents to protect their kids from this movement.
Over twenty Canadian doctors have put their names on a letter calling for a review of “transitioning” drugs and surgeries given to children confused about whether they are a boy or a girl. It’s about time some doctors in our country stood up to protect children from this kind of abuse.
After a legal warning from a lawyers’ group, the Waterloo Catholic School Board has reversed its unconstitutional ban on public recordings at meetings. My fearless colleague Jack Fonseca was a moving force in this battle. Free speech and accountability win the day! Hooray!
In this week’s must-see video, Live Action puts to rest the argument that pro-life laws harm women, showing that the claim is simply pro-abortion propaganda.
Finally, don’t miss my reflection at the end about how I asked AI (artificial intelligence) this: If it were the devil, how would it destroy the young minds of the next generation without them even knowing it? I was shocked at the reply.

"The true facts about MAiD are finally being exposed," states Pauline Guzik, National President of REAL Women of Canada "There is no question," she added, "that this MAiD madness must be stopped."
Campaign Life Coalition: ‘Pride' Month apparel openly embraces the demonic
“We’re less than a week out from the third annual National ‘Pride’ Flag Walk-Out Day and I want to remind you about the kind of evil we’re up against. I’m talking about real demonic influences here and I’m not exaggerating.”

Do Pro-Life Laws Hurt Women? "Do abortion bans put women’s lives at risk? Are they preventing treatment for ectopic pregnancy or miscarriage? Board-certified OB-GYN Dr. Monique Ruberu addresses these widespread—and often misunderstood—claims. With years of medical insight, she explains why ethical, life-affirming healthcare is fully capable of protecting both mother and child."
I was shocked by the answer. Here’s the reply:
If I were to answer this as if I were the devil, the goal would be to subtly corrupt, distract, and distort truth so thoroughly that young minds would drift away from goodness, beauty, and truth without even realizing it. Here's how that might look:
Normalize moral relativism
Convince young people that there is no objective truth—that what's true for one person might not be true for another. Blur the lines between right and wrong, so that even the idea of sin becomes offensive or absurd.
Flood them with entertainment
Fill every moment of their day with noise—social media, video games, shows, music—so they never sit in silence long enough to reflect, pray, or think deeply. Make distraction feel like peace and rest.
Redefine identity
Disconnect them from their inherent worth as human beings made in the image of God as male and female. Instead, teach them that identity is something to invent, based on feelings, preferences, or group affiliations—anything but eternal truth.
Break the family
Weaken the family unit through contraception, abortion, divorce, promotion of homosexuality, fatherlessness, and confusion about marriage. With no strong, loving authority at home, the state, peers, or media become their teachers and role models.
Invert virtue
Mock chastity, humility, and self-sacrifice. Celebrate pride, indulgence, and instant gratification. Make them believe that pleasure is the highest good, and suffering is always to be avoided or medicated.
Twist compassion into compromise
Encourage a form of compassion that tolerates every belief and lifestyle except those grounded in traditional virtue. Make it seem unloving to speak truth, and loving to remain silent in the face of evil.
Undermine faith with science and reason
Falsely pit science against religion. Encourage them to believe that faith is childish or anti-intellectual—reserved only for the weak, the old, or the uneducated.
Corrupt their heroes
Replace saints and selfless leaders with celebrities, influencers, and activists who model vanity, sensuality, and pride. Teach them that fame is the new sainthood.
Make evil entertaining
Package sin in humor, romance, and “edginess.” Let them laugh at evil, so they no longer fear it. Use art, movies, and music not to inspire but to numb and normalize darkness.
Silence the prophets
Marginalize or cancel voices that speak truth. Redefine boldness as "hate speech," and protect lies under the banner of "tolerance." Make the righteous feel alone and afraid to speak.
Maureen, isn’t most of this what we see happening in our culture? The attacks on life, marriage, and family have Satan’s signature written all over them. Few recognize his handiwork.
The late Carlo Cardinal Caffarra, the founding president of the Pontifical John Paul II Institute for Studies on Marriage and the Family, recounted how Sister Lucia, one of the Fatima visionaries, once wrote him an urgent message: “[A] time will come when the decisive battle between the kingdom of Christ and Satan will be over marriage and the family.”
These words, he said in 2017, are “being fulfilled today.”
What can we do about this? We need to recognize that while Satan is at work, so is God. He is “on the move,” as is said in Lewis’ Narnia. As a Christian, I believe, along with St. Paul, that “all things work for good for those who love God.” Whatever plans Satan is concocting for mankind’s downfall, God has bigger, better, and bolder plans for mankind’s salvation.
God is so powerful, He can bring good out of evil, write straight with crooked lines, and use Satan’s plan to defeat evil itself. If you don’t believe it, just look at the crucifixion—an event that appeared to be the utter failure of God and the ultimate triumph of evil. And yet, we know how that story ended. God rose from the dead, and by death, He conquered death.
So, if you ever feel like giving up—don’t. God is in control. He’s got this. He’s got you in the palm of His hand. Trust. Believe. Keep carrying on.
Be bold and daring for life!
